The Complete Guide to Home Gardening

Teacher Xiaoye teaches you all kinds of gardening knowledge!

Orchids are noble and elegant, and many friends keep a few pots at home to cultivate their character. But orchids are a bit delicate and not that easy to grow, and if you want to grow an orchid with beautiful form, it is even harder. But a while ago I learned a trick from an old flower farmer in the countryside. Seeing how truly fairy-like his orchids were, I asked a few more questions, and it turned out he used this clever trick.

The old flower farmer said: just cleverly add this "thing" to the orchid pot and it is guaranteed to grow like crazy

So what "thing" is that magical? Actually, it is the bricks and tiles we see all the time in daily life. They can be found everywhere in towns and cities and picked up easily. New bricks or old bricks both work, but they need a bit of processing. It does a lot to promote orchid root development.

How do we use these bricks and tiles to grow the orchids at home?

First, we need to break up and polish red bricks, smashing them into three sizes: large, medium and small. The most important thing is to soak them in water for 2-3 days, because they are fire-baked, so we need to remove the "fire" energy and alkaline substances. We also need to drip 2-3 drops of an appropriate amount of vinegar on them to disinfect them before they can be used to grow orchids.

Growing orchids with brick and tile granules not only ensures the soil's air permeability, but also prevents black rot, promotes drainage and avoids root rot. Besides brick and tile granules, you can also cover the pot surface with moss, and add an appropriate amount of humus soil to the soil to improve the soil environment.

Take note!

Brick and tile granules themselves have no nutrients, so the orchid needs to be given fertilizer. It is recommended to apply a microbial inoculant fertilizer specially made for orchids once every half month, to add the nutrients the orchid needs to grow, strengthen the roots and stems, ensure vigorous orchid growth, and also promote flowering and extend the flowering period.

Friends who grow orchids at home might as well try this method, the results are outstanding. I heard many orchid growers tried it and the results were very good.
