Those ubiquitous laws in our lives actually exist in the succulent world too!

Today we're going to dig into the fifteen great laws of the succulent world and see whether you and your succulents have fallen for them.

1. Law of Attraction

When your thoughts are focused on a certain field, the people, things and objects related to that field will especially catch your eye.

Back when I first fell into the succulent pit, I was full of interest in everything related to succulents. Whenever I had free time I would look at beautiful succulents, learn from others' growing experience, and share my own succulent-growing stories with fellow succulent lovers... and I never tired of it.

2. Watch Law

When a person has only one watch, he has only one standard for telling time, but when he has two watches at the same time, his standard for judging time will be disturbed, and he may even be unable to determine the time.

When Huizhang first entered the pit, I didn't know how to water my succulents, so I went to ask the veterans. As a result, some said to water every three or four days, and some said to water once every half month. In the end, I still didn't know how to water succulents.

Later I finally understood that becausethe conditions of each succulent are different, watering is affected by many aspects such as the pot, soil and temperature, so if someone clearly tells you to water once every few days, that is irresponsible behavior~

3. Diderot Effect

In the 18th century, a French philosopher named Denis Diderot was given a fine dressing gown by a friend one day, and he liked it very much. But after he put it on, he began to feel that all the furniture and decorations in his home looked crude and vulgar.

So he had to replace the old things one by one, but in the end he still did not feel happy, because he finally discovered that "he had actually been coerced by a dressing gown."

Because "people always strive upward," and once you reach a certain stage, everything is expected to rise along with it. When Huizhang firstentered the succulent pit, I immediately entered the pot pit too. My succulents are so beautiful, I definitely have to match them with good-looking pots...

And so I began to fall into a crazy spree of spending,This succulent is beautiful, buy buy buy; this pot really suits it, buy buy buy! An infinite loop...

4. Herd Effect

Where the lead sheep goes, the sheep behind follow. The herd effect was originally a term in stock investing, mainly referring to the phenomenon of learning and imitation among investors during trading,"copying whatever they see," blindly imitating others.

This phenomenon also exists in the succulent world. Growing succulents is a process of continuous learning, especially at the beginner stage, when you have no experience of your own and can only closely follow in the footsteps of the experts. The experts' soil mix, learn it! The experts' watering, learn it! Every move of the experts, learn learn learn!

5. MiG-25 Effect

Many parts of the MiG-25 jet fighter developed by the former Soviet Union were inferior to those of the United States, but because the designers took overall performance into account, it was able to become world-class at the time in terms of climb and descent, speed and emergency response. The so-called best whole is the best combination of individuals.

Buying the most expensive pot, the most expensive soil and the most expensive medicine for your succulents is not as good as buying what suits them best.Only what fits the growth characteristics of the succulents is good for us to grow succulents in good condition~

6. Crocodile Principle

The original meaning is to assume that a crocodile bites your foot. If you use your hand to try to free your foot, the crocodile will bite both your foot and your hand at the same time. The more you struggle, the more you get bitten. So if a crocodile bites your foot, your only option is to sacrifice one foot.

This is like when a succulent develops rot and there is a trend of it spreading: do not hesitate, just cut it off, fast, ruthless and accurate. The more you hesitate, the more likely it is to cause the whole succulent to die.

7. Labeling Effect

When a person is labeled with a word or name, he will engage in self-image management and make his behavior consistent with the content of the label.

Psychology believes that the reason the "labeling effect" occurs is mainly because "labels" have a defining and guiding function. Whether "good" or "bad," they have a strong influence on a person's "self-identity of individual consciousness."

Succulents have been labeled by people as "ordinary goods" or "expensive goods," which forcibly gives succulents a hierarchy, but in fact they are all succulents, so where is there any distinction of noble or humble?

8. Barrel Law

How much water a barrel can hold depends on the shortest stave in the barrel, not the longest one.

Disadvantage determines advantage, and disadvantage determines life and death. This is not only the cruel law of market competition, but also exists when growing succulents, just like planting a succulent arrangement. If one succulent has different habits from the others, it can easily cause problems for the whole pot of succulents.

9. Halo Effect

The halo effect is also calledthe "halo effect"and belongs to the field of psychology. It refers to when a perceiver forms a good or bad impression of one characteristic of a person, he also tends to infer other characteristics of that person based on it.

From a cognitive perspective, the halo effect grasps only individual characteristics of a thing and draws conclusions about the essence or all the characteristics of the thing, which is very one-sided.

Imported succulent soil was once all the rage, but black cat or white cat, only the cat that catches mice is a good cat. Imported soil or domestic soil,as long as it is a growing medium suitable for your own succulents, it is the best, isn't it~

10. Wine and Sewage Effect

The law of wine and sewage means that if you pour a spoonful of wine into a barrel of sewage, you get a barrel of sewage; if you pour a spoonful of sewage into a barrel of wine, you still get a barrel of sewage.

I planted a bunch of succulents, and one developed sooty mold. I did not deal with it in time, and as a result it affected all the succulents.

11. Pickle Effect

After the same vegetables are soaked in different water for a period of time, if you cook them separately, their taste will be different.

According to this principle, when people are in different environments, due to long-term exposure and influence, there will be obvious differences in their character, temperament, qualities and ways of thinking. The pickle effect reveals that the environment plays a very important role in a person's growth.

The same succulent can be stunningly beautiful in a cheat zone, but when it reaches a reverse cheat zone, it only makes people want to cry without tears.

12. Butterfly Effect

The weak airflow caused by a butterfly occasionally flapping its wings somewhere in the Southern Hemisphere can become a tornado sweeping somewhere in the Northern Hemisphere a few weeks later. They call this phenomenon, in which a tiny cause develops into extremely huge and complex consequences over a certain period of time with the participation of other factors, the "butterfly effect."

Once a mealybug flew by, I did not pay attention, and later my succulent developed black rot...

13. Broken Window Effect

If the window of a car on the roadside is broken and not repaired in time, the car will be damaged more and more severely and even dismantled.

In the succulent world, it is this:If you grow your succulent into a poor state and throw it outside, it will become more and more beautiful, and then... it gets stolen.

14. Authority Effect

Do not be too superstitious about what authority figures say; you should dare to stick to your own views and speak your own opinions.

After entering the succulent pit, sharing my succulent-growing experience with fellow succulent lovers also became one of my hobbies. Occasionally someone would come out and criticize that this is wrong and that is wrong, butwhat suits your own succulents is right. After all, we let looks do the talking~

15.. Murphy's Law

Nothing is as simple as it looks; everything takes longer than you expect; anything that can go wrong will go wrong; if you worry that some situation will happen, then it is even more likely to happen.

Every time the season changes, I am afraid my succulents will die, but often the more nervous I am, the more likely problems are to appear!

After reading this, I just want to say one thing: what a messy circle! Hahaha~~~~~
