Ever since I started keeping plants at home, little flying bugs have become regular visitors. The flowers are beautiful, but the bugs that come with them are a real nuisance.

Today, Huizhang is here to share a few tricks for dealing with these little flying bugs!

01. Why do little flying bugs appear in flower pots?

1. When planting flowers and plants, the soil was not disinfected or sterilized. Ordinary soil usually contains insect eggs, so before planting flowers and plants you should bake the soil in the sun and add insecticide.

2. It is related to the soil type; generally speaking, peat soil is more prone to pest problems than piled soil, because piled soil is decomposed soil, so the chance of pest problems is low.

3、It is related to the type of flowers and plants being grown and the care environment.

02. Folk tricks for getting rid of little flying bugs

1. Use cigarette buttsat a ratio of 5 grams mixed with 70 to 80 grams of water, soak for 24 hours, rub them a little, filter out the residue with gauze, then use the water to water the flowers, and the little flying bugs will soon be gone. Generally, about ten cigarette butts in one mineral water bottle of water is enough.

2. Use 1:200 laundry detergent water (soapy water). To improve the effect, you can add a few drops of rapeseed oil, stir thoroughly, and spray with a sprayer once no oil film is visible on the surface.

3. You can also soak fresh orange peel in waterand pour it into the flower pot (soak and use on the same day); after a few days the little flying bugs will be gone.

4. Soaking Sichuan pepper in water and using it to water flowers can also get rid of pests.

5. Take advantage of the insects' chemical tropism and use a sugar-vinegar solution to trap and kill them:

The specific method is: add sugar-vinegar solution to a small basin, spray a little insecticide into it, and place it next to the plant. After about half an hour, you will find many dead little bugs. However, this method is not easy for wiping out all the little flying bugs.

If none of the above methods work, then prune the plants that are attracting the bugs, and the pruned branches must be discarded or destroyed. Otherwise, it is almost impossible to cut off the source of the pests.

You need to cut off the possibility of these little bugs appearing at the source. Generally, little flying bugs appear because of the use of animal-based fertilizers such as milk water and eggshells, and they occur when the potting soil is damp. So,try not to use fertilizers that have not been fully decomposed.

03. Chemical methods for controlling little flying bugs

Chemical agents are either pesticides or insecticides. They are generally available on the market, but at the same time they are harmful to people, and the bugs may also develop resistance. Unless the bugs are rampant, it is not recommended to use them many times.(Chemical agents are harmful to the human body, so why not try making your own pesticide for pest control on flowers.)

04. How do you wipe out different bugs?

Those are the larvae of small insects that look a bit like little flying ants and also a bit like little mosquitoes. Generally, when these little white worms are present, there will be many little flying bugs around the flower pot. You can try the following methods:

1. Laundry detergent: Dissolve one tablespoon of laundry detergent in 4 liters of water, and spray the leaves every two weeks; this can completely wipe out whiteflies and bacteria.

2. Milk: Mix 4 cups of flour and half a cup of milk into 20 liters of water, stir, filter with gauze, and spray on the leaves; this can kill mites and their eggs.

3. Beer: Pour beer into a shallow basin placed under the flower pot soil; snails that crawl in will drown.

4. Garlic: Mash one garlic bulb, mix it with one tablespoon of pepper powder into half a liter of water, and after one hour spray it on the leaves; this can prevent damage by rats.

5. Soak tobacco shreds in water: When ants appear in the flower pot, soak cigarette butts and tobacco shreds in hot water for one or two days. When the water turns dark brown, sprinkle part of the water on the flower stems and leaves, and after diluting the rest, pour it into the flower pot; the ants will then be wiped out.

Flower-loving friends whose homes are often troubled by little flying bugs may want to give these a try! The results are absolutely excellent!!
