Everyone has grown flowers like Christmas cactus and clivia, right? Do you sometimes feel disappointed when they don't bloom? Besides suitable temperature and light, the main reason Christmas cactus, clivia and other flowers fail to bloom is that the soil in the pot lacks phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. Because the flower soil contains too much nitrogen fertilizer and lacks phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, the plant looks quite vigorous but simply won't bloom. To solve this problem is very simple. You only need two things, and by following the method below, you will see a pot full of blooming flowers by winter.

1. Around October 1 every year, cut 20-50 grams of horseshoe pieces into small pieces, open a small trench along the edge of the pot about 3-6 cm deep, scatter the pieces in, then cover with soil. With continuous watering afterward, they will slowly ferment and decompose in the soil, releasing nutrients that the plant can absorb. But rest assured, unlike other fertilizers, they absolutely will not burn the roots. Horseshoe pieces contain 3.5% nitrogen, 15.5% phosphorus and 0.87% potassium. They are a natural organic fertilizer with a very high phosphorus content, and their fertilizer effect lasts extremely long. They are especially effective for flowering plants such as Christmas cactus and clivia. Horseshoe pieces are sold in flower markets or online and are a very old traditional flower-growing fertilizer. If you really cannot buy them, you can replace them with sesame paste residue, and the effect is also quite good. Sesame paste residue is the residue left after making sesame oil from sesame seeds. Of course, if you use sesame seeds, that is even better.

2. In addition to applying phosphorus and potassium organic fertilizer in the pot as above, if combined with leaf spraying, even flowers that have not bloomed for several years will burst into bloom. At present, the most commonly used leaf spray is monopotassium phosphate, and there are also special liquid fertilizers for promoting flowering sold in flower shops. When using them, just dilute with water according to the instructions. The spraying time is one month before bud formation, once every 10 days, spraying 2-3 times in a row.

Using the above two methods together is very beneficial for bud formation and flowering, and the effect is sure to be much better than other methods.
