What kind of soil is best for growing flowers? Most friends grow flowers using soil from roadsides, parks and wild fields, combined with purchased nutrient solution. To grow flowers well, soil plays a vital role, especially for potted flowers. Today, the editor will introduce to you several types of soil that are very suitable for growing flowers at home~

1. Humus soil. Humus soil is better for growing flowers in the ground, and is not quite suitable for flowers grown indoors, because it is fermented from poultry manure and feed residues together, so it retains some odor; however, this culture soil has extremely strong fertilizer-retention and water-retention properties, but its biggest drawback is drainage. If you use this type of culture soil, you need to do a good job of loosening the soil.

2. Garden soil. Mainly taken from the surface soil of vegetable gardens, fields, orchards, etc. This is ordinary cultivation soil. Because it is often fertilized and cultivated, it contains a certain amount of humus, has relatively high fertility, and has good granular structure, making it one of the main raw materials for preparing culture soil. The drawback is that when dry, the surface is prone to hardening, and when wet, aeration and water permeability are poor, so it is not suitable for use alone.

3. Clay soil. Spread the clay soil out in the open, let it be exposed to wind, rain and sun, and turn it frequently, and only then can it be used. It is generally mostly used as pot soil and cutting soil for southern flowers such as white orchids, gardenias, jasmine and orchids.

4. Pine needle soil. Commonly known as orchid soil, it is a natural humus soil produced in the mountainous areas of Jiangsu and Zhejiang, formed by the decay of fallen leaves accumulated over many years. Most of it is taken from the surface soil under pine trees, cypress trees, etc. Coniferous soil is acidic and rich in nutrients, making it very suitable for acid-loving flowers. You can collect some pine needles and place them at the bottom to improve water and air permeability.

Different types of flowers have different requirements for soil conditions, and the same flower also has different requirements for soil conditions at different growth and development stages. Therefore, the application of culture soil should be selected according to the types and biological characteristics of different flowers, and the propagation and cultivation of various flowers all have special requirements for soil.
