The hot summer has finally passed, and the cool autumn has arrived. Gardeners who love to get their hands dirty have started tending their plants and flowers again. Just recently, Shouguang City, the national vegetable base, was hit by flooding, and many vegetable greenhouses were submerged, which caused vegetable prices to rise. Xiao Jingzhi Lifestyle got to thinking: why not grow some vegetables on the balcony alongside the plants and flowers? It improves your hands-on skills, lets you be self-sufficient with fresh green vegetables, and harvesting while they grow is a very enjoyable thing to do. Why not? So below, Xiao Jingzhi Lifestyle shares with everyone a few easy-to-grow vegetables suitable for planting on the balcony. Let's all give it a try!

1. Garlic chives

Mention garlic chives and you immediately think of garlic chive dumplings, which are delicious just to think about. And garlic chives aren't just for dumplings; scrambled eggs with garlic chives is delicious too. Growing garlic chives takes a bit of effort. The seeds don't sprout easily, so first soak them in warm water at 40°C for a day, then rub and wash them on a damp cloth each day and leave them to sit at 15°C until the seeds show white sprouts, and then you can sow them. Once garlic chives get growing, you'll barely finish one harvest before the next one comes up. If you really can't eat it all, you can give some away. Green, economical, and great value.

2. Celery

Celery is also a vegetable commonly eaten at home, and celery stir-fried with meat is a classic home-style dish. Celery seeds are also hard to sprout. Before planting, wash the celery seeds, wrap them in gauze and rub them gently, then put them on a paper towel and spray with water every day to force the sprouts. Once they sprout, plant them, and they'll grow faster.

3. Cilantro

Cilantro is mainly used for seasoning. When Shouguang flooded recently, rumors online said cilantro prices had risen to as high as 39.9 yuan per jin. Cilantro seeds are also very hard and need to be soaked until they swell before sowing. When sowing, gently scatter the cilantro seeds over the soil, cover with a thin layer of soil, press down lightly, and then slowly wait for the seeds to sprout. Cilantro is rather sensitive to cold, so be sure to keep it warm.

The above are the 3 most common vegetables that Xiao Jingzhi Lifestyle has introduced for everyone. Actually, you can grow many other vegetables and melons on the balcony too. We'll introduce them slowly later!
