Nowadays more and more people, men and women, young and old, like to keep a few potted plants at home to pass the time. Caring for plants is a task that demands patience, and often as soon as something goes wrong in one area, the plant may be "hanging by a thread". Of course, growing flowers is the kind of thing that has tricks and secret methods to follow, and if you use the right things there won't be any big problems!

The snake plant (Sansevieria) is kept in many households because of its appealing looks, but getting it to produce small offset shoots still requires certain tricks. Today Huahua recommends 3 things for everyone, all of them readily available from the kitchen, and they work wonders for growing snake plants. So what exactly are they? Let's reveal the answer right now!

1. Waste oil from the range hood

When it comes to the range hood in the kitchen, people may think of it as covered in grease and having nothing to do with growing flowers at all. In fact it is quite the opposite: the waste oil that the range hood collects when you stir-fry and cook is absolutely perfect for growing flowers. That is because the waste oil contains a large amount of nutrients, and after being diluted and poured into the flowerpot it will promote the growth of the snake plant to a certain extent.

The specific method is to take out the waste oil from the range hood, add water to dilute it into a solution, then slowly pour it into the flowerpot, where it will gradually be absorbed by the snake plant. Use this kind of nutrient fertilizer about once every half a month, and after persisting for a month or so you will see the snake plant send up glossy green little offset shoots.

2. Rice washing water

There is no need for Huahua to say much about the benefits of rice washing water; many flower growers have long been using it to water their flowers. This way you not only avoid waste, but the plants and flowers can also grow more vigorously. However, rice washing water must be fermented before use, otherwise it will burn the flower roots.

The fermentation process for rice washing water is also very simple: put it in an airtight container, preferably filling it only to eight-tenths full, so that the internal air pressure will not become too great and cause an explosion, then move it to a cool place to ferment for about 20 days before using it. The frequency of use for rice washing water is similar to that of waste oil, and remember never to water too much, which would lead to excess nutrients and finally yellow leaves.

3. Soybeans

Soybeans are likewise something readily available in the kitchen. Soybeans contain a large amount of protein, and regular use can make the snake plant grow more vigorously. The method of using soybeans is fairly simple: first boil the soybeans until soft in a pot, next dig a few small holes in the soil in the flowerpot, and finally put the boiled soybeans into the small holes, so that after a long time the soybeans will slowly ferment in the soil and release nutrients.

Besides soybean grains, using soybeans to make soybean water, after more than 20 days of fermentation, can also be used as a thin fertilizer water to "feed" the snake plant, and the effect is equally good!

With these 3 little tricks, I believe the snake plants in everyone's home will grow tender green little offset shoots within a few months. It seems there are still many effective little tricks in life that we have not yet discovered!
