Autumn Plant Care Reminder: Don't Overlook These Points

Once End of Heat passes, the weather really does gradually turn cooler. At these turning points in temperature, flowers and plants need their owner's attentive care to get through safely. Potted flowers are, after all, like flowers in a greenhouse; for autumn care, all you plant owners must put your heart into it.
Light
Not many potted flowers can withstand the scorching summer sun, so they were either kept indoors or shaded with thick shade netting. Now, you can move them back out and take down the shade netting as well.
Letting them receive plenty of light is better for leaf photosynthesis, helps current-year branches mature, increases their cold resistance, and prepares them for safely overwintering.
Of course, this applies to flower varieties that themselves love light but are not very tolerant of strong sun. If they are foliage plants, then they only need morning and evening light. As for the midday sun, avoid it if you can, otherwise it really may scorch them.
Pruning
Pruning is also an important task in autumn potted plant management.
Most flowers, except those that bloom in winter and early spring, can be pruned and trimmed in autumn. For example: jasmine, crape myrtle, pomegranate, and so on. When pruning, cut off dead branches, diseased branches, overly dense branches, and leggy branches to reduce nutrient consumption and lay a good foundation for the potted plants to overwinter.
Topdressing
In September the weather is relatively cool, and many potted plants are in a new period of vigorous growth. At this time, topdressing can be done to promote plant growth and flowering. For example, cyclamen, clivia, Christmas cactus, azalea, and others have passed their dormancy period and begun to enter their peak growing season, so from autumn until they bloom at Spring Festival, fertilizer and water management should be strengthened. Appropriately increase phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to help flower bud formation.
For some flower varieties that go dormant in winter, after October you should gradually reduce watering and stop fertilizing, so as to avoid root rot from too much water. Too much fertilizer can easily cause leggy growth, which is unfavorable for overwintering.
Cuttings
Autumn is a very favorable season for cuttings. You can combine this with pruning and use the cut branches for cuttings. Rose, geranium, jasmine, and others root at a very high rate when propagated by cuttings in autumn.
Autumn is also a good season for sowing. Friends who love herbaceous flowers can start taking action. Once you buy the seeds, you can experience what it feels like to be a flower farmer. As long as you care for them properly, next year you will harvest lovely little lives.
Succulent Talk
If you are an experienced grower, then getting flowers and plants through autumn and winter will naturally be easy for you. But even with growing and care, you must never be careless, since new situations can pop up at any time.
If you are a beginner at growing plants, then do not shrink back from the slightly more complicated test of the changing seasons. As long as you earnestly study experience posts, there are always more solutions than difficulties. After all, your green plants have only you to rely on.
