Today we are sharing a topic about "flowers and plants", and the title is, Flower Care Must-Know: When a money tree reaches this stage, it must be repotted, and if you do it right, the roots will not rot for 10 years!
The money tree, generally speaking, is fairly easy to keep alive. While it has the characteristics of a green plant, it also has a woody plant as its main body, so placing it at home can both raise the humidity in the home and provide fresh oxygen. But if a money tree that has been cared for at home for many years develops yellowing and falling leaves, looks listless, or the plant turns yellow, then you must pay close attention: there may be a problem with the money tree's roots, and at this point we must repot the money tree, because it is very likely that the roots of the money tree have rotted.
1. Technique for removing the roots from the old pot
If you want to repot a money tree, you must first hold the main trunk of the money tree and gently shake it. The purpose of doing this is to make the potting soil of the money tree loose. Then lay the flowerpot on its side and pull out the money tree's roots along with it, and you can smoothly take out the money tree. At this point you will find that the reason the money tree did not rot, or why the leaves turned yellow and withered, is incorrect watering at the end of summer and the beginning of autumn and potting soil that was not airy enough. This kind of situation very easily causes the money tree's roots to turn black and rot.
When we see the black rotten roots of the money tree, we can first prepare a sharp blade. After disinfecting it, scrape and clean away the rotten parts, then soak them in potassium permanganate solution for a quarter of an hour to half an hour. You can also choose to apply a carbendazim solution to the cut surfaces to achieve the purpose of disinfection.
2. Causes of root rot in the money tree
The reason the roots of the money tree develop black rot is, on the one hand, that the roots have rotted, and on the other hand, it also shows that the previous soil of the money tree already had bacteria growing in it. In that case, we can put the old growing medium in the microwave for a few minutes, then continue to put it into a new pot for the money tree to use. If possible, it is still best to switch to new, loose soil to grow the money tree. We can choose to use pine needles, brick granules, and leaf mold in a 1:1:1 ratio, mixed together, for the money tree. After the money tree is repotted, do not water it immediately. It needs to be placed first in a ventilated and shady place and grown there for 1 to 3 days. After making sure the money tree has adapted to the new soil, then water it thoroughly.
