Orchids are noble flowers; though the blooms are small, their delicate fragrance fills the air. Many people joyfully buy and plant them again and again, yet somehow they never bloom. To get orchids to flower, many people have tried all sorts of methods, such as growing them in greenhouses or building extended basements, and so on, but these are all rather costly projects. In fact, to get an orchid to bloom, you only need to master the following methods, and it can flower quite easily.

Orchids are difficult to grow, but it is not entirely impossible. For an orchid to bloom, the plant must first grow well, and nitrogen fertilizer is a very important step in this. When an orchid lacks nitrogen, its growth is affected, while phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are the factors behind blooming, so during the orchid's growing period, timely supplementation of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers is essential. However, for varieties like orchids, it is recommended to use plant-fermented orchid-specific nutrient solution; this kind of nutrient solution promotes root absorption without damaging the roots and is very effective at encouraging blooms. But be sure to avoid applying just a single element, as this will cause uneven growth and poor vigor in the orchid.

Besides paying attention to fertilization, the choice of pot is also very important. Generally, large plants go in large pots and small plants in small pots. If the plant is too small and the pot too large, it is very easy for the plant to collapse. Many friends say that orchids grown in small pots bloom easily; this is because growing orchids in small pots helps control the roots, since orchid roots often "run" to grow along the sides of the pot wall, where aeration is relatively better. So when choosing an orchid pot, one that is just the right size will do.

The most important factor is water control. Although many orchid growers say their orchids are rarely watered, they still do not see blooms. In fact, this water-control condition means that after the flower bud differentiation stage, you should then control water appropriately, which benefits its growth. Doing so can raise the cytoplasmic concentration in the orchid cells, promote flower bud differentiation, and make blooming relatively easier.

In the later care of orchids, besides paying attention to the above factors, in summer you should also pay attention to cooling them down. Normally you can sprinkle water on the pot walls to achieve the cooling effect, so the orchid will not easily be stifled by the scorching weather.

Growing orchids and getting them to bloom is actually quite easy; as long as orchid growers pay more attention to these factors during care, it will not be hard to see them bloom.
