Why do peace lily flowers turn green? Cause analysis

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
Peace lily flowers start out white and gradually turn green later on; this is a natural phenomenon of flower bloom metabolism, so there is no need to be too surprised. Another possible reason is that the light is too weak, because any white flowers will turn greenish when light is weak. You can increase light or apply fertilizer, and once enough nutrients have accumulated and light is sufficient, the color will change back.

1. Natural phenomenon

Peace lily flowers are white at first, gradually turn green later, and eventually become the same as the stems and leaves, while the originally yellow spadix also turns black. These are all natural phenomena of flower bloom metabolism, so there is no need to be too surprised; even when they turn green, they are still quite ornamental.

2. Light too weak

If the peace lily's spathe bud has only just opened for a few days and then turns green, that is not a normal natural phenomenon. It is caused by light that is too weak; all white flowers will show a greenish tint when light is weak. You can increase light, or apply an appropriate amount of fertilizer to supplement nutrients, and once enough nutrients have accumulated and light is sufficient, the color will change back.
