How to repot a Monstera deliciosa? A detailed guide to the correct repotting method

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
Before repotting, first prepare nutrient soil and a flower pot one size larger than the original. When removing the plant from the pot, be careful not to damage it. After removal, prune away the old roots, diseased roots and dead roots, let the wounds dry, gently shake off the old soil, and carefully plant it into the pot soil. After potting, water it thoroughly once right away. During later care, never water it at will; keep the soil moist.

1. Prepare the soil

Monstera deliciosa is actually not strict about soil. Leaf mold or pond mud and other nutrient soils are all fine. Also prepare a flower pot larger than the original one.

2. Removing from the pot

When removing from the pot, support the pot surface, turn the pot upside down, and gently tap the pot edge to separate the pot soil from the pot. Then grab the hole at the bottom of the pot and lift the pot to complete the removal.

3. Pruning the roots

After removing from the pot, carefully shake off part of the old soil around the roots, keeping only 1/3. After the roots are exposed, cut off the old roots, diseased roots and dead roots, keeping the healthy roots and new roots. After pruning, place it in a ventilated spot to let the wounds dry.

4. Potting and watering

After pruning and drying the wounds, plant it into the prepared pot soil and water it thoroughly once. After watering, place it in a ventilated and warm environment. During this period, do not water at will; if the pot soil is moist, there is no need to water.
