Is the peony suitable for growing in southern regions?
I. Is it a good idea?
Growing peonies in the south is not ideal, because they fear heat and moisture. The south is inevitably hotter than the north. If you grow them in the south, you must provide a low-temperature environment, so the cost is estimated to be higher than in the north. However, growing one or two pots will not make much difference; large-scale planting is not recommended.
II. Points to note
1. No cold, no bloom: Winter temperatures in the south are much higher than in the north, so they must be placed in the coolest spot; if it is not cold enough, the peony will not bloom.
2. No standing water: The rainy season in the south is long, with a lot of rain, so be very careful that there is no standing water in the potting soil, otherwise root rot, or even death, is very likely. Be sure to do a good job of drainage and control the amount of water.
