In early autumn, divide and split your flowers, turning 1 pot into 20 pots with ease, saving money and practical
Pull off the side shoots, easily turn 1 pot into 10 pots
1. Choosing the mother plant
Choose a plant that is growing vigorously, with plump leaves and sufficiently large side shoots. Pulling off side shoots is a major operation, so don't do it on weak-growing ones for now.
2. Removing from the pot
Dig the whole succulent out of the pot, gently shake off the soil, and be careful not to damage the roots.
3. Pulling off the side shoots
After cleaning off the soil, pull off the side shoots one by one. Note: don't pull off side shoots that are too small, as they won't survive easily. Be gentle and try not to damage the mother plant. After pulling them off, leave them in a cool, ventilated place to dry for 2 days.
4. Potting up
Plant the dried side shoots and the mother plant separately in 2 large pots. The soil should be loose and breathable, keep it semi-dry, and place them in a cool spot to wait for rooting!
5. Transplanting
Keep them in a ventilated spot with diffused light and don't water for now. Generally, new roots will grow in about 10~15 days. Two weeks after rooting, transplant each side shoot separately into small pots. 1 pot instantly becomes many pots, and by next spring they'll fill the pots!
Care like this after autumn, and filling the pot is no problem
1. Light
After the Start of Autumn, don't suddenly expose them to strong direct sunlight. Gradually move them from diffused light to a spot with more light, slowly increasing the light to avoid sunburn from the autumn tiger heat. If it's hard to control, you can give them full light in the morning and evening, and shade them at noon.
2. Watering
In early autumn, watering about once every 2 weeks is enough. Don't water too frequently, to avoid leggy growth. After watering, open the windows immediately for ventilation.
3. Fertilizing
Once the dormant period has passed, growth speeds up, so fertilizer needs to keep up. But don't overfeed, as a weak plant can't handle too much. You can bury a few granules of slow-release fertilizer in the soil, keeping them away from the roots.
4. Cleaning up dead leaves
Promptly clean up dried, sunburned, and fallen leaves in the pot to reduce infection from pests and diseases.
5. Pest prevention
Late summer and early autumn is exactly when all kinds of bugs run rampant. You can directly bury pesticide in the soil to prevent pests. Imidacloprid, carbofuran, and others all work.
