Reasons and solutions for dry, withered leaves on the areca palm

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
There are many reasons that cause the leaves of the areca palm to dry up and wither. If it is caused by dry air, then increase the air humidity; if it is caused by too strong sunlight, then give it diffused light and provide appropriate shade when the sunlight is intense; if it is caused by insufficient watering, then appropriately increase the frequency of watering; if it is caused by fertilizer that is too concentrated, then appropriately reduce fertilizing, and be careful to apply dilute fertilizer.

1. Increase air humidity

1. Cause: It is a tropical plant and has relatively high requirements for air humidity. If the air humidity does not meet the standard, the leaves will dry out.

2. Solution: Spray water mist on its branches and leaves in the morning, at noon, and in the evening to keep the branches and leaves moist.

2. Reduce light intensity

1. Cause: The areca palm likes sunlight, but if the sunlight is too intense, the leaves will also dry up and wither.

2. Solution: The areca palm is a sun-loving plant. Ensure more than eight hours of sunlight exposure every day. At noon when the sun is strong, provide it with appropriate shade. This will not only meet its light requirements, but also prevent it from being scorched by the sun.

3. Water appropriately

1. Cause: The areca palm has a high demand for water, so insufficient watering will cause the leaves to dry out.

2. Solution: Water two to three times a week, and each time water thoroughly, and appropriately increase the frequency of watering. Spray water mist on it in the morning, at noon, and in the evening every day to keep the branches and leaves moist.

4. Apply dilute fertilizer

1. Cause: The areca palm likes fertilizer but does not like concentrated fertilizer, so concentrated fertilizer should be avoided when fertilizing.

2. Solution: During its growing period, fertilize once a week; during the dormant period, fertilizing two to three times a month is enough. If the fertilizer applied is chemical fertilizer, keep it about ten cm away from the roots when applying, and do not apply it on the roots, to avoid burning the roots. If the fertilizer applied is animal manure, disinfect and wash your hands after applying it.
