Reasons for Yellowing Leaves on Variegated Spider Plant and How to Fix Them

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
There are many reasons why the leaves of a variegated spider plant turn yellow: if it is caused by a lack of nutrients, you need to fertilize it promptly to replenish the nutrients it needs. If it is caused by improper watering, you need to water reasonably and water thoroughly, and water more when the temperature is high. If it is caused by inappropriate light, you need to let it receive diffused light and shade it appropriately when the light is intense. If it is caused by improper fertilizing, you need to fertilize once a week during the growing season, and the amount should not be too large.

1. Replenish Nutrients

Cause: A variegated spider plant cannot grow well relying only on the nutrients in the soil, and it is prone to nutrient deficiency, which causes the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: Replenish nutrients appropriately and promptly. The nutrients added should contain the three elements nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. These substances are very helpful for the plant's growth and can make the leaves large and glossy.

2. Water Reasonably

Cause: When watering, too much water easily causes waterlogging in the potting soil, leading to root rot; too little water makes the plant dry up. Both of these incorrect watering methods cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: When the temperature is high, water once a day and spray a water mist on its leaves in the morning and evening; when the temperature is low, watering three or four times a week is enough. When watering, water the soil thoroughly, but there must be no waterlogging.

3. Reasonable Light

Cause: Although spider plants like a semi-shaded environment, they still need light. If the light is insufficient, their leaves turn yellow.

Solution: Let it receive diffused light every day, and when the sun is strong, shade it appropriately.

4. Fertilize Reasonably

Cause: When fertilizing a spider plant, pay attention to the method and approach. Both too much and too little fertilizer will cause its leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: During the growing season, fertilize once a week, and during the dormant period, fertilize twice a month. When fertilizing, do not get too close to the roots; keep a distance of a few centimeters to avoid burning the roots.
