Grow pothos with a few plastic bottles, and it can actually grow until it touches the ceiling

Plenty of people grow pothos, but this is the first time Yatou has seen it grown this way. Other people's pothos all grow horizontally and simply trail down naturally. One flower lover's plant was grown directly into a pothos column. On closer look, it did not grow that way on its own, but rather there are some little tricks involved. It clearly took some thought!

This process requires a certain amount of buildup, but the method is actually very simple. Just a few plastic bottles will do it! Now Yatou is sharing the method with everyone! (Yatou did not do this by hand, so the pictures were collected from the internet. Just make do with them!)

Step 1

Collect plastic bottles, preferably transparent ones. And it is best if they are all the same width. Otherwise the column will not be straight.

It is best to use large bottles, the 2.5L beverage bottles from the supermarket. Cut off the bottom.

How tall the pothos column is depends on how many plastic bottles you collect!

Step 2

Find a tall and deep flower pot. If you want a tall pothos column, the base must be stable.

Cut small holes around the plastic bottle (you can use fire to scorch them), mainly to let the pothos stick out. Insert the first plastic bottle in the middle of the flower pot, with two thirds buried in the soil, so it is a bit more stable and will not wobble. Then pour nutrient soil into the bottle.

Step 3

Once the first layer is fixed, just keep stacking upward! Between bottle and bottle, fix them at a point with staples, or wrap a loop of string around them.

Then tuck the pothos inside. Be careful to plant the pothos in each layer before building the next layer. At the beginning it may look a bit ugly, but after some time, once the pothos has grown well, you will see the effect!

Step 4

At the same time, also plant some pothos around the flower pot and let it climb and grow. In half a year, you will have grown a floor-standing pothos.
