The bromeliad (Guzmania), also known as the scarlet star, is a foliage plant. Here is an article on the key points of bromeliad care, which can help flower enthusiasts answer the questions they encounter during care.

Watering

When watering a bromeliad, besides watering the soil, you should also pour water into the leaf cup. Never water the center frequently, as this may cause the flower stem to rot. It is best to use water that has been left to stand, and keep the water in the leaf cup clean. Generally, it can be changed once a week; you can cover the potting soil with a plastic bag and then turn it upside down.

Potting soil

Although the potting soil should be on the moist side, it must not be too wet, otherwise the roots will easily rot.

Lifespan

This depends on how big the bromeliad was when the flower enthusiast bought it. Some enthusiasts, looking for a bargain, buy one whose flowering period is already more than half over. At this point the bromeliad is already past its prime, and its condition will only get worse from then on. If it cannot be propagated by division, it will slowly die.

Light

Give it a proper amount of light and ventilation and it will turn red, but pay attention to the intensity, especially in summer, when you need to provide shade.

Fertilizing

Winter is the flowering period, which requires sufficient fertilizer. Usually, apply a diluted organic liquid fertilizer once every two weeks, for example, a soak of soybean cake or sesame paste residue (a concentration of 20% is suitable). You can also use a soybean soak or fermented rice-washing water.
