Crab Claw Cactus and Kalanchoe water propagation: just 1 cup of water, and fuzzy roots sprout in 3 days

Although it is much cooler now, the autumn tiger is still quite hot, and the temperature difference between day and night is large. Crab Claw Cactus and Kalanchoe are most likely to die at this time... Fortunately, they can still be propagated by cuttings now. Huahua quickly pinched off a few leaves and put them in water, and they rooted in a week!

Crab Claw Cactus cuttings

Earlier Huahua said Crab Claw Cactus goes dormant in summer. Now that autumn has arrived, why is it still restless? Actually, it is because the temperature difference between morning and evening is large. The low temperature is around 20 degrees, and the high temperature is over 30 degrees, so Crab Claw Cactus easily dies. We should quickly leaf-propagate a few pots now to be safe!

1. Choose relatively healthy leaves, preferably with more than 2 segments, and simply snap them off at the node~

2. After removing them, you can apply some carbendazim or white flour to the wound. Just a tiny bit stuck on is enough to avoid bacterial infection.

3. Prepare a glass bottle, fill it halfway with water, and put the Crab Claw Cactus in. It is enough for the bottom 2-3 cm to soak in the water.

4. Water-propagated Crab Claw Cactus is best placed on a cool windowsill. Do not put it in the sun. Change the water about once every 3 days. The water is best if it is tap water that has been left standing for half a day.

5. For healthy Crab Claw Cactus, small white buds can usually be seen emerging in 1-3 days. If it is slower, do not worry. As long as the leaves do not die, there is still hope.

6. After the Crab Claw Cactus sprouts, do not rush to transfer it to soil. Continue water propagation for another half a month to let the root system stabilize~

7. When the roots grow to 2 cm long, it can be planted in a flowerpot. After potting, water thoroughly, then place it on a ventilated windowsill or hallway, and wait until the soil is dry before watering a second time. If the air is usually dry, you can spray water mist around the leaves to keep them moist~

8. After adapting to soil planting for a week, you can consider giving it sunlight. Sunlight for 1-2 hours every morning is enough. Definitely do not expose it to too much sun! Still keep watering only after the soil dries, to make sure it does not die~

Crab Claw Cactus that has successfully rooted from cuttings can bloom from October to February of the following year. It is simply a flowering machine with super long standby time. Everyone should quickly propagate cuttings now~

Kalanchoe leaf propagation

Many flower lovers grow Kalanchoe at home. I do not know how they have fared through the summer this year. Do not let them finally survive summer only to die in early autumn! Quickly pick off a leaf and throw it into water, and it will root.

1. Kalanchoe is also a succulent and can also be propagated from leaves. Pick a few leaves, apply some carbendazim, or soak them in sugar water for 10 minutes. After soaking, let them dry for half an hour, which can promote rooting.

2. Insert the dried Kalanchoe leaves and flower stems into a small-mouth water bottle. It is enough for the water to cover about 2 cm. Soaking too deeply in water easily causes black rot.

3. Water-propagated Kalanchoe should avoid light. It is best placed on a cool windowsill or table at home, and the water should also be changed every 2-3 days.

4. Kalanchoe sprouts quickly, but you must keep persisting with water propagation. Wait until the roots grow to more than 2 cm before transferring to soil, which is safer.

5. When transplanting, it is best to use loose sandy soil. The soil should be firmed down, then water thoroughly, and let it recover for a week in a cool place before returning to normal care.

Kalanchoe can also bloom from autumn to winter. Everyone should pick a few more leaves now for propagation. By the New Year, the Kalanchoe at home will be so numerous there is no room to put them all!
