Mint, as if tireless, gives off a fresh fragrance and does not stop until late at night, which earned it the name "night-breathing fragrance."

Mint has strong vitality and can grow in almost any kind of soil. Its unique fragrance is refreshing and uplifting, making it a particularly practical garden plant.

How should mint seedlings be potted up?

1. Place a few pieces of broken tile at the bottom of the flower pot to help with drainage; clay pebbles work too.

2. Put a small amount of soil into the flower pot, then place the mint seedling in the pot, fill in soil layer by layer, and press it down gently~

3. Water thoroughly, then place it in a shady spot and care for it carefully, and that's it!

How should you water it?

1. Mint needs fairly a lot of water during the growing season, and the potting soil needs to stay moist, otherwise the leaves easily turn yellow.

2. In dry summer weather, you can increase watering according to your own situation, but do not let too much water accumulate.

3. In autumn and winter, water less.

How to fertilize

For home-grown mint, you should top-dress the plants 3~5 times a year, which can be done together with weeding. During the growing period, to encourage more lush stems and leaves, mainly apply nitrogen fertilizer, with phosphorus and potassium fertilizer as a supplement. Just apply light fertilizer frequently, and you'll find that originally just one or two small plants can grow into a whole patch~

Why have the mint leaves rusted?

It is because rust disease has occurred, and it needs to be treated quickly! The main common diseases of mint are leaf spot and rust.

1. For leaf spot, the diseased plants need to be pulled up and destroyed immediately. In the early stage of the disease, you can spray 75% chlorothalonil wettable powder 500~700 solution every 7 days, and stop the treatment according to your own situation.

2. If rust disease occurs, spray 25% triadimefon wettable powder 500 solution for treatment.

Reminder: if the mint leaves are to be eaten, remember not to spray any pesticide for 20 days before harvesting~

How to make potted mint fill out its pot

First, mint likes sunlight. If you want potted mint to fill out its pot, you must put it in a place with plenty of sunlight. Don't worry even if the summer sun is strong. If there is not enough sunlight, mint tends to grow leggy, the leaves do not grow large, and it is also especially spindly. A whole pot may look smaller and smaller.

Second, growing mint requires plenty of water. Hydroponics is also possible, but soil culture will grow better. If you haven't watered it for a few days and the flower pot is extremely dry, even the leaves have dried up and withered, don't worry: as long as the roots are still alive, water it again and it will quickly recover its former vitality.

Finally, repot it once every spring or autumn, using fertile, loose soil. It is best to prune it properly and regularly. The more you prune mint, the better and more lush it grows. From time to time, loosen the soil for it, or add some soil, or fertilize, and it will grow faster. Be sure to put it in a ventilated place on the balcony.

[Tips]

A potted plant filling out its pot moderately will look more beautiful, but excessive lushness will cause mint to compete for nutrients, affecting normal growth. If you find that the mint has seriously overfilled its pot, then you can reduce the soil fertility, or use the method of dividing and transplanting to relieve the pressure of the mint overfilling its pot.
