Why Is Your Rubber Plant Dropping Leaves? Causes and Solutions

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
When a rubber plant drops its leaves, if it is caused by overwatering and overfertilizing, then reduce watering and fertilizing; if it is caused by air that is too dry, then increase the air humidity; if it is caused by poor indoor ventilation, then improve the ventilation, so that the leaves can return to normal faster.

1. Reduce watering and fertilizing

1. Cause: Although it likes fertilizer and water, in summer the weather is stuffier and hotter, and if you fertilize and water too much, water will accumulate in the pot, and in severe cases the roots will rot outright. In winter it is in its dormant period, and water evaporates very slowly; if you water and fertilize too much at this time, its roots will rot, and the leaves will turn yellow and drop as well.

2. Solution: First cut off the rotten roots, preferably until white sap flows out of the cut. Then let this sap dry, apply a little disinfectant to the wound, such as plant ash, and then apply it to the wounds on the original trunk as well to reduce its evaporation, after which you can repot and plant it.

2. Increase air humidity

1. Cause: When growing it, if the air in the room is too dry, the water in its pot will be insufficient, and since the leaves need a lot of water on top of that, the leaves will start to drop from lack of water.

2. Solution: Normally water it more according to the condition of the soil, and mist the leaves every morning and evening; if that still does not work, you can also sprinkle water on the leaves at noon. What to note at this time is that the water temperature for watering should be similar to room temperature, and the temperature difference must not be too large.

3. Improve ventilation

1. Cause: If the room is not ventilated for a long time, some harmful gases will be produced, and over time its leaves will start to turn yellow and fall.

2. Solution: Ventilate the room in good time to keep the air fresh; if it is winter, we can open the windows to ventilate at noon when the temperature is high.
