Why Anthurium Flowers Turn Black and How to Fix It
1. Replenish Water
Cause: During its growth, it needs a great deal of water, especially when it is blooming. If it is not watered in time at this point, the flowers will start to turn black.
Solution: At this point we need to replenish the water promptly, which will ease the situation. Then, while it is blooming, master the watering method well and keep the soil moist at all times, so that its water needs can be met.
2. Appropriate Lighting
Cause: When it is blooming, both the formation and the opening of the flowers require plenty of light. If it is kept in a very dark place for a long time, the flowers will turn black; or if, when giving it light, the light is too strong, the flowers will become scorched and black.
Solution: If the light is insufficient, move it to a bright place with indirect light; if the light is too strong, shade it promptly. But note that you must not shade it too much; leave appropriate light so that its growth needs can be met.
3. Prevent Pests and Diseases
Cause: During the flowering period, it is prone to certain pests and diseases, especially in hot, stuffy weather; combined with overwatering, this easily breeds bacteria, which then damage the flowers and cause them to start turning black.
Solution: At this point we should place it in a well-ventilated spot and spray it with the corresponding solution to prevent and control the pests and diseases.
