How to grow Anthurium hydroponically? A step-by-step guide to the correct method
1. Transplanting
First dig it out of the soil, then cut off the rotten roots and leaves, rinse it clean with water, then disinfect it with a disinfectant solution, and afterwards rinse it once more with water. If you grow it in a glass container, you can put a black plastic bag over the outside of the glass to prevent the light from being too strong, then put a transparent plastic bag over that, then place it in a spot with diffused light and keep the temperature above 10°C.
2. Preparing the nutrient solution
First check its nutrient solution situation; it usually needs to be changed every 7 to 10 days. Then also promptly remove the mucus and algae from the roots. In summer, you can change the water more frequently, with once every 2 to 3 days being best, and each time you change the water do not fill it too full, to prevent the roots from rotting.
3. A suitable environment
It likes warm and humid places and is very afraid of strong light, so when growing it pay attention to where you place it; it is best to put it in a place with good ventilation and no strong light. Then in summer, the temperature must not be higher than 28°C, and the air humidity should be kept at 80%; if it is too dry, you can appropriately spray water on its leaves. In winter, the temperature must not be too low, otherwise frost damage will occur.
4. Reasonable oxygen increase
When growing it hydroponically, the oxygen content is very important; if oxygen is insufficient, it will cause root rot, so when growing it you should use the vibration method: hold the container in your hand and shake it gently a few times to increase the oxygen level.
5. Root trimming
During hydroponic culture, remove the roots grown in its original soil so that it can grow new roots again.
6. Change the water in time
Its roots absorb strongly, so it needs to have its water changed regularly, and the mucus and algae on the roots removed, as this can increase the oxygen content; usually changing the water once every 2 to 3 days is best, and in winter you can change it once a week.
