Grow a potted jade plant into an old trunk with these 6 tips, thick and sturdy as a tree

The jade plant is elegant and unique, with emerald-green stems and leaves, very beautiful. The jade plant blooms in late spring and early summer, symbolizing auspiciousness and good luck. If you want to grow a potted jade plant into an old trunk, master the care techniques. Below we introduce the methods!
Care methods for potted jade plants:
(1). Choosing potting soil
The jade plant has low soil requirements; choose a loose, fertile medium with good drainage. Generally, you can mix leaf mold and garden soil at 2 parts each with 3 parts river sand to make the soil.
(2). Reasonable watering
Water the jade plant following the principle of not watering until dry, and watering thoroughly when you do. When the soil surface appears on the dry side, water promptly and thoroughly in one go; if the potting soil is not dry, do not water.
(3). Appropriate fertilizing
During the growing season, the jade plant needs 2~3 applications per month of well-rotted diluted cake fertilizer. In spring and autumn, fertilize once every 2 weeks; in summer during the dormant period, you can use an aqueous solution of potassium dihydrogen phosphate as a foliar fertilizer. In winter, stop fertilizing. Each spring, apply potassium dihydrogen phosphate to the plant to promote flower bud development at the top of the plant.
(4). Suitable temperature
The jade plant's optimal growing temperature is 20~30 degrees; when summer temperatures rise above 38 degrees, it enters dormancy and needs reduced watering and light. In winter, keep indoor care temperatures at 7~10 degrees. Keep it in a ventilated environment daily so the plant can breathe fresh air and moisture can evaporate well, avoiding waterlogging.
(5). Regular repotting
Repotting the jade plant is generally done in autumn. Add a little fertilizer to the bottom of the new pot as a base fertilizer, then plant the jade plant with its old soil into the pot and fill it with soil.
(6). Preventing pests and diseases
Common diseases of the jade plant include leaf spot and anthracnose, which can be sprayed with a 70% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder 1000-times solution. Pests include scale insects and brown soft scale, killed by spraying a 40% omethoate emulsifiable concentrate 1000-times solution.
