The old leaves of the gardenia have no gloss, and the new leaves are yellowish, curled and uneven - what is going on?

This is a sign of too little light, lack of fertilizer, and lack of water. Gardenias need a great deal of light to grow; gardenias grown in full sun grow more vigorously and energetically, their leaves spread out more smoothly, and the more sun they get, the healthier they grow.

The longer the potting soil of a gardenia is used, the more organic fertilizer you need to use. When the potting soil has not been changed for a long time, the organic matter in it gets less and less, and later on you need to fertilize more and more. This is because the longer it goes on, the more serious soil and water loss becomes, and the worse the soil gets at holding water and holding fertilizer. After fertilizing, if you water with a ladle and pour on a big gush every time, the fertilizer is easily washed away.

When fertilizing, do not use just one kind of fertilizer every time. Organic fertilizer, compound fertilizer, ferrous sulfate, and trace elements can all be used together. Before and after the flowering period, you can mix these fertilizers together and apply them, twice a year is enough. Gardenia branches grow quite fast, but the roots grow more slowly, especially after the roots are damaged; once the damage reaches a certain degree, self-healing takes quite a long time. This is also why, after some flower lovers repot their gardenias, the plants stay in recovery for a long time, and some who are not patient enough end up with the gardenia slowly dying while being kept in the shade.

Pay attention to watering. The root system of the gardenia is still rather poor. When choosing a compound fertilizer, use a high-potassium compound fertilizer to nourish the roots, and pay attention to watering - you must supply enough water; the gardenia right now is still quite severely short of water.
