As people's living standards improve, people today pay more and more attention to the quality of life. For example, some focus on fitness, some on travel, some on healthy eating, and of course, more and more people have fallen in love with growing flowers. Keeping a few pots of flowers at home is warm and elegant, and most flowers and plants can purify the air. With a little effort, you can grow a few pots of flowers and give your family a healthy, warm and comfortable living space, and the process of caring for them also helps cultivate the mind. So why not do it?

However, if you want to grow flowers well, autumn care is truly key. Especially since the hot summer has just passed, many flowers that were dormant during the high temperatures re-enter their growth period once the weather turns cool. At this time, watering correctly and fertilizing well are truly crucial. So what exactly should we do?

Then let's take a look at today's sharing topic!

In autumn, add a little "something" to the pot, and the flowers and plants will "grow like crazy", blooming "30 days earlier"!

Add an egg yolk to the pot, and kalanchoe and Christmas cactus will grow like crazy, blooming 30 days earlier

Kalanchoe and Christmas cactus are both flowers that go dormant during the high temperatures of summer. When the cool autumn arrives, they enter their growth period again. At this time, our fertilizing and watering must keep up, otherwise they will not have the strength to bloom when the flowering season comes. Gardeners can do this:

Take two eggs, crack them open, and separate the yolks from the whites. At this point we need to use them separately.

1. Using the egg yolks

Divide 2 egg yolks into 4 portions. At the edge of the pot away from the roots of the kalanchoe or Christmas cactus, use a stick to poke 4 deep holes, put one portion of egg yolk in each hole, and cover with soil. As you water and time passes, the egg yolks will ferment and decompose in the soil, slowly releasing phosphorus fertilizer, and by the flowering season they will provide plenty of phosphorus fertilizer for the kalanchoe and Christmas cactus.

2. Using the egg whites

Add water at a ratio of 300 times to the whites of the 2 eggs, stir well, and pour into a plastic bottle. You can also add some chopped orange peel, filling it to 8 parts full, then place it in a cool, ventilated spot to ferment. Generally, after about 20 days it can be used. Take the clear liquid on top, dilute it with water, and water the flowers. The dilution ratio is 1:30. Egg whites are rich in nitrogen fertilizer and can take very good care of kalanchoe and Christmas cactus.

However, if you want kalanchoe and Christmas cactus to bloom earlier, besides giving them plenty of nutrients, we also need to give them light control and water control in advance, giving them at most 6-8 hours of light a day, and keeping them in complete darkness the rest of the time. Just water when the soil is dry. Generally, with this kind of care, they will be full of flower buds in about 20 days. This method is also suitable for bougainvillea, and can make its flowering season come about 30 days earlier.

Egg whites fermented this way are rich in nitrogen fertilizer. They can not only care for kalanchoe and Christmas cactus, but are also very suitable for other foliage potted plants, such as pothos, money tree, snake plant, clivia, spider plant, ZZ plant... they can all be used, with excellent results.

Egg yolks are rich in phosphorus fertilizer and are suitable for all flowering potted plants, such as fuchsia, geranium, Chinese rose, rose, bougainvillea... this method can also be used.

Water with earthworm castings, and the potting soil will be nutrient-rich and not compacted, and the flowers and plants will grow like crazy

In autumn, if your potted plant has not been repotted for a whole year, then water it with some earthworm casting water. It can make your potting soil loose and breathable, not compacted, and rich in nutrients without burning the roots.

Gardeners can go to the grass in parks and neighborhoods after rain to pick up a little earthworm castings. Of course, if you find it troublesome, you can also buy some online, and it is very cheap.

After collecting the earthworm castings, first sun-dry them for about 7 days, then you can collect them for later use. When watering potted flowers, add 2-3 pieces of earthworm castings, let them dissolve into muddy water, and pour it into the flower pot together. Use it once about every 10 days, and it can change the looseness of the potting soil. Of course, you can also directly use earthworm castings to top-dress potted plants, and the effect is also very good. You can also mix it into nutrient soil to grow flowers directly.

Because earthworm castings are a purely natural organic fertilizer, rich in nutrients, no matter how much you use, it will not burn the roots. It can be said that even the most delicate flowers can use it and all can achieve good results.

Warm tips:

When watering flowers and potted plants in autumn, gardeners are advised to do it in the morning and evening, avoiding the high-temperature period at noon. If using tap water, it is best to let it sit in the sun for about 2 days before use.
