Come one, come all! The 2018 Fresh Jinshan Sweet Potato Lively Promotion and Sales Event

The Jinshan Sweet Potato Festival is drawing to a close. To make it easy for metropolitan visitors and members of the public to buy their favorite fresh Jinshan sweet potatoes, the Jinshan District Office of New Taipei City will hold 2 sessions of the "2018 New Taipei Healthy Three Treasures - Jinshan Sweet Potato Festival" Jinshan sweet potato promotion and sales event at Taipei Hope Square on September 1 and 2.

Jinshan sweet potatoes are grown on an area of 95 hectares, with an annual output of about 1.5 million kg. The main variety is Tainong No. 66 red-fleshed sweet potato, mostly planted in the semi-sandy clay soil farmland of Jinshan. They are usually planted from April to May and harvested from August to October. The red-fleshed sweet potatoes grown there are sweet in flavor and creamy in texture, rich in vitamin A, B1, B2, C and minerals such as iron and calcium, and highly nutritious. They are not only integrated into local cuisine but can also be used as a fine dish for cooking.

Chen Guoqin, head of Jinshan District, said that this year's participants in the sales event are all Jinshan's finest farmers, including young farmer Chen Zhongqing and Gao Wengong, the winner of 3 consecutive Sweet Potato King competitions. The organic fresh sweet potatoes grown by these two are 100 percent guaranteed high quality. In addition, the Jinshan District Farmers' Association's Golden Red Sweet Potato series products and the fresh local agricultural specialties of the North Coast are also deeply favored and loved by the public.
