Is Chunlan Cui Yipin an old variety? Price and fragrance explained
Cui Yipin is an old variety of Chunlan (Cymbidium goeringii). Whether in flower form or in spirit and charm, Cui Yipin is not much inferior to Xishen, and it also has the title "Little Xishen." It was selected by Wu Enyuan of Hangzhou before the War of Resistance. What are its specific characteristics? Would you like to find out?

The petal type of Cui Yipin is the narcissus type (wrinkled-corner narcissus). Generally, among orchids and cymbidiums, all those belonging to the wrinkled-corner narcissus petal type must have a slight notch at the tip of the lip, but this flower alone has no notch. The old leaves are semi-arching, the leaf tips are sharp and pointed, and the leaf texture is relatively thin. The bracts are light red. The three outer petals are broad and constricted at the base, with the front ends of the petals appearing slightly fluttering, a soft shallow pouch-like heart, a round tongue, and the red dots on the tongue are especially vivid. The flower scape is slender, the shoulders are level, and the color is emerald green.
From its name, one can see that Cui Yipin is a top-grade orchid among Chunlan, so its fragrance is also very pleasant and quite charming. In terms of price, it is somewhat more expensive, roughly 300 yuan to 400 yuan, and some of better quality are priced even higher.
