2018 Tea Gathering at Peach Blossom Spring Special Exhibition Opens: Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan: Welcome to Experience It

Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan went to the Dajiang International Shopping Center in Zhongli District yesterday (the 26th) in the afternoon to attend the "2018 Tea Gathering at Peach Blossom Spring Special Exhibition Opening Press Conference." Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan said that the 2018 Tea Gathering at Peach Blossom Spring Special Exhibition was jointly planned by the Cultural Foundation, Longyuan Elementary School and the Agriculture Bureau, and was exhibited on the 4th to 5th floors of the Dajiang International Shopping Center on the 26th, and on the 10th floor of the Taoyuan Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Station Front Store on September 1 and 2, hosting tea ceremony culture. Through activities such as viewing tea industry documentaries and photographs, displays of tea-making machines and models, life tea lectures and calligraphy writing, it combined tea art, calligraphy art and tea-making culture to promote Taoyuan's fine tea, allowing more citizens and friends to experience tea country culture and develop a "green gold industry" with Taoyuan characteristics.

Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan said that Longyuan Elementary School is a school in the hometown of tea art, condensing tea country culture into school education. On campus, a "Happy Learning Tea Garden" has been established, allowing students to experience the production processes from planting and harvesting tea leaves to rolling tea and drying, and to learn tea art culture such as brewing tea, tasting tea and serving tea. Citizens and friends are welcome to experience it together.

Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan pointed out that the city government has promoted many policies in the tea country, including: the Hakka Affairs Commission subsidizing nearly 500 million yuan to set up the Taiwan Hakka Tea Culture Museum and develop sightseeing and experiential agriculture 2.0; assisting the Juyang Tea Tourism Factory to promote flatland tea gardens and tea bag production; continuing to promote the Dabeikeng Leisure Agriculture Area to advance agricultural tourism; allocating a budget next year (2019) to install tap water in tea country areas such as Gaoyuan Village and Gaoping Village; opposing the plan to set up a natural gas power plant in Gaoyuan Village; and building the National Freeway No. 3 Longtan Second Interchange (Gaoyuan Interchange), which is expected to break ground at the end of this year (2019), providing convenient transportation for the tea country and making the promotion of tea country culture smoother.
