How do you pinch back a kalanchoe? Learn the correct pinching method
1. How to pinch back
Pinching back a kalanchoe is generally done from March to September, because when October arrives, it enters the early bud stage. When pruning, cut off branches that are taller than 12 cm, as well as the newest buds at the very top, to encourage its side branches to grow and develop. If it grows too tall, it will affect the beauty of its overall shape and may even affect the plant's normal blooming.
2. Points to note
After pruning, the kalanchoe needs an appropriate amount of compound fertilizer to promote the growth of side branches. If the pruning is done in autumn, it also needs a supplement of phosphorus fertilizer to store nutrients for its flowering period. When pinching it back, you can also prune withered branches and overly dense branches at the same time to ensure the plant's shape remains attractive.
