What does a mangosteen tree look like? A detailed introduction to its appearance and characteristics
I. Appearance
The mangosteen tree is a small tree, about 12-20 m tall, with many dense branches, and the twigs have obvious longitudinal ridges. The trunk is upright, the bark is dark brown, and it has yellow resinous sap, and the crown is conical.
II. Leaves
The leaves of the mangosteen tree are elliptical or oblong-ovate, dark green and glossy on the surface, pale yellow-green on the underside, with an acute apex and entire margins; the leaves break easily, exuding a yellow resin when broken.
III. Flowers
The male flowers of the mangosteen are borne in clusters of 2-9 at the tips of the branches, with short pedicels, and the stamens are united into 4 bundles; after degeneration the stamens are cylindrical. The female flowers are solitary or in pairs, also growing at the tips of the branches, larger in diameter than the male flowers, with slightly longer pedicels, and 4 red petals.
