Flipping through a few home decor photos online, they all look stunningly beautiful. Why are other people's homes so beautiful?
Actually, by making good use of some stylish decorative items, your home can instantly become an internet-famous look too.
To create an internet-famous home style, greenery is essential. The fresh green can make the whole space look crisp and natural. The plant introduced below is a big star in the internet-famous world: the cactus;
Unlike other home decorations, plants have deep enough colors of their own, so cumbersome pairings should be abandoned and simple embellishment should be used as much as possible.
Pairing green with pure white and natural wood tones is enough to bring out the beauty of plants, preserving their natural quality and adding a touch of liveliness to an otherwise deliberately styled space. This is the most special way plants express themselves.
Now let's talk about how to care for cacti:
1. Choosing a pot
The flower pot should not be too large; just a bit bigger than the plant is enough. For home potted cacti, the ideal pot is a ceramic pot. This type of pot is exquisite and elegant, comes in diverse styles, has good water permeability, and is reasonably priced.
2. Choosing potting soil
Cacti have strong adaptability and low soil requirements. Loess and red loam soil can both be used for planting, and sandy soil is even more suitable for cactus growth, because the roots of cactus plants are very sensitive to lack of oxygen. If the potting soil has poor air permeability, the oxygen supply in the soil will be insufficient, causing root rot. A layer of soil can be spread beneath the sand to maintain water absorption and storage, so there is no need to water every day.
3. Light
A sunny environment suits cactus growth. The suitable temperature for cactus growth is 20-30°C, no higher than 35°C at most, and no lower than 5°C at minimum. Direct sun exposure should be avoided to prevent slowing the cactus growth rate. The placement location also matters; choose a well-ventilated spot.
4. Watering
Cacti grow in desert regions, are drought-tolerant, and have good water absorption capacity. During care, be careful to avoid waterlogging; overwatering can cause root rot and death. Too little watering can also lead to premature aging.
5. Repotting and propagation
In spring and autumn, you can repot once, changing the soil and the pot. Stop watering 3-5 days beforehand.
When growing leaf-type, fan-type, pad-type, and columnar cacti at home, you can use cuttings for propagation in spring, summer, and autumn, with an extremely high survival rate. Generally, cuttings can take root in 20 days.
