As soon as the weather turns cool, many flower lovers are preparing to graft or take cuttings from their plants, and some friends want to take advantage of the nice weather to change the soil and repot their flowers. Did you know? Repotting actually involves a great deal of knowledge! There are many techniques and much to learn in the choice of soil, the choice of flower pots, and the transplanting methods.

Today Huahua is here to chat with everyone about repotting, repotting - how exactly should this pot be chosen?

First we need to know, what principle should we follow when choosing the pot to switch to?

1. The size of the flower pot should be decided according to the size of the plant; you cannot pair "a small flower with a big pot", nor "a big pot with a small flower". This point is easy to understand, right?

2. If the flower you are growing is transplanted with a root ball when repotting, then after placing it into the pot you must ensure there is a 2-4 cm gap around the sides of the pot; only with a gap can new soil be added.

3. If the flower you want to transplant has no root ball, after placing the flower into the pot, check whether the plant's roots can spread out. If they cannot, you can trim them appropriately, then plant it into the pot.

Once you know the principles for choosing a flower pot, it is time to choose the pot. There are many types of flower pots on the flower and bird market. Huahua will summarise them for everyone: they can roughly be divided into three categories: clay pots, porcelain pots, and plastic pots.

Clay pots: Clay pots are made from clay, and this is a commonly used and purchased container for growing flowers. The clay pots often seen on the market are the red kind. Clay pots are not only low in price and durable, but also highly breathable, making them basically the top choice for flower-growing enthusiasts. When choosing the type of flower pot, you can usually pick according to the living habits of the flowers you grow at home.

Plastic pots: The advantage of plastic pots lies in their particularly wide range of colours, and compared with clay pots they are somewhat lighter and more attractive in shape. This makes them very popular with young people. However, although this kind of plastic pot looks nice, it also has its own drawbacks, such as relatively poor breathability and water permeability, and it ages very easily; after aging it breaks quite easily. Now that both the pros and cons have been told to everyone, choose as appropriate.

Porcelain pots: To describe porcelain pots, the phrase "flashy but impractical" fits perfectly! Porcelain pots only serve the purpose of looking good; they are neither breathable nor water-absorbent, and can only be used outside another pot as a decorative outer pot.

Basically these are the common types of pots. After Huahua's introduction, has it given everyone a better understanding of choosing pots? Remember that newly bought clay pots must be soaked in water for a few days before use. After buying flower pots, you should also take good care of and maintain them in time, and regularly clean off the mud stains and saline-alkali deposits on the pots, so as not to affect their appearance.
