Autumn is here, and many households want to grow a few potted flowers at home. They don't just decorate the room; they also bring life to daily living in autumn. So what flowers should you grow in autumn? For gardening beginners, growing flowers is really too hard. Just keeping them alive is already good enough, let alone getting them to burst into a full pot.

But don't worry. Today the editor wants to recommend a particularly easy-care potted flower, easier to grow than pothos: toss it in a pot and it grows like crazy the moment it touches water. This flower is Bryophyllum pinnatum (air plant). Bryophyllum pinnatum is a herbaceous plant and also a type of succulent.

The leaves of Bryophyllum pinnatum are rather thick and fleshy. At the serrated edges of the leaves, two opposite small leaflets can sprout. In humid air, fine aerial adventitious roots can grow on both the upper and lower surfaces. These small buds are evenly arranged along the edges of the large leaves, drop off at a touch, and will take root wherever they land.

Bryophyllum pinnatum likes a sunny, warm and humid environment. It is relatively tolerant, very cold-tolerant, and prefers loose, breathable, well-draining acidic soil. When the stems and leaves of Bryophyllum pinnatum grow too tall, pinch off the growing tips to lower the plant's shape and encourage more branching. Repot and refresh the soil every spring to keep the plant's form attractive.

Bryophyllum pinnatum is commonly propagated by leaf cuttings. In warm seasons, pick mature leaves and lay them flat on moist sand. Within a few days they take root at the notches along the leaf edges and grow into small plants. Once they have grown, they can be cut off and moved into small pots. The neat, attractive adventitious buds growing along the edges of Bryophyllum pinnatum look like a group of small butterflies, quite a curious delight. As a home potted plant, it is especially elegant and charming.

Flower lovers who enjoy growing plants can get a pot of Bryophyllum pinnatum. If you have other good flowers to recommend, you can also share them with everyone in the comment box below!
