Some spots at home are shady, and flowering plants usually cannot be grown there. Most flowering plants need plenty of light to encourage blooming, but the plants and flowers below can adapt to low-light environments and can bloom under the shade of trees or in semi-shaded spots indoors.

There are many plants that can grow and bloom under the shade of trees, and below are some particularly beautiful varieties.

1. Astilbe

Astilbe is a perennial that grows well with hardly any care. It likes loose, fertile leaf mold rich in humus and likes properly shaded conditions. Its leaves look very much like fern fronds, but when it blooms it is especially splendid, like brightly colored bird feathers. It comes in different flower colors, including charming pink, white, purple and red varieties. They like to grow in moist, semi-shaded conditions, and the soil must have good drainage.

2. Azalea

Azaleas are also suitable for planting under the shade of trees. They are very beautiful flowering shrubs with a range of different flower colors and varieties. Many azaleas can stay evergreen year-round in warm environments, and they usually bloom in spring. There are the common white, pink, purple and red flower colors, as well as some varieties mixed with yellow and orange.

Azaleas like moist, well-drained soil. The growing spot should avoid excessive heat or scorching sun. When summer temperatures are too high and the soil is rather dry, water often, and regularly supplement with some acidic fertilizer, such as the common ferrous sulfate. Prune appropriately after flowering, and pay attention to cold protection in winter.

3. Bleeding Heart

Bleeding heart is a brilliant plant that blooms in early spring. It is extremely cold-hardy and can survive low temperatures of more than ten degrees below zero. It likes to grow in shaded spots in the yard and can grow without light.

Bleeding heart has heart-shaped leaves and bright, charming flowers that look like a heart dripping blood. It is a very easy-to-grow perennial. The growing soil should be kept loose with good drainage, and it should be protected from scorching sun or excessive direct sunlight.

4. Coral Bells

Coral bells is a very easy-care perennial herbaceous plant. The plant is relatively short, but when it blooms the flower stalks are especially tall. It is a fairly cold-hardy potted plant and can also be grown in shady spots in the yard. It likes slightly alkaline soil, and soil that tends toward acidic should be avoided.

Coral bells usually blooms in June. Its flower stalks are very tall, with the common pink, red and white flowers, and its small blossoms look like little bells.
