Schefflera is also known as the umbrella tree, and it is a plant very well suited to indoor growing. But growing it indoors also requires us to understand some care tips for it; being suited to growing does not mean leaving it unattended. If you want it to better serve its ornamental role, you must take careful care of it.

Because Schefflera originates from tropical regions, they all like hot weather. Temperatures that are too low in winter are very unsuitable for its growth, so Schefflera must be kept warm in winter. If the temperature is below five degrees, it will get frostbitten and drop its leaves, looking very unattractive and bare. However, if Schefflera drops its leaves in winter, you must protect its stems well. If the stems are still intact, it can continue to grow the next year, but if the stems and leaves are frostbitten, then there is no hope for it.

Also, in winter you must not put it in a corner where it cannot get sunlight just to keep it warm; that will not work either. In winter it also needs to keep some light. Schefflera needs to be pruned when spring is approaching, because this is when it sprouts, so pruning should be done in time to give it a better shape. In winter it does not need frequent watering, because the weather in winter is already quite cold, and watering too much can also cause the Schefflera to get frostbitten. So in winter it is best to mist it, which both replenishes moisture and prevents frostbite.

Schefflera also likes moist soil, so although you cannot water it in winter, you should mist it according to its actual conditions. In winter it also needs fertilizing, but you must control the amount of fertilizer. In fact, many plants do not need fertilizing in winter. But to help it grow better, you can fertilize it once a month in winter, but you must be careful not to fertilize too much.

The placement of Schefflera also matters a great deal, because Schefflera is actually good for feng shui, so many people choose to put it in places with evil energy. Because Schefflera has relatively large leaves, many people think it can ward off evil spirits. In fact, it not only wards off evil spirits, but placed anywhere in the home it also does a good job of beautifying the space; whether in the living room or the study, it is very suitable.

Of course, many people put the plants they grow at home on the balcony, forming a small garden on the balcony. Schefflera can also be placed on the balcony. Placed together with other potted plants large and small, it looks extremely nice.

But one thing must be noted: Schefflera must never be placed in the kitchen or in a place relatively close to the kitchen, and it is also best not to place it in the bathroom; such a large plant would be very much in the way there.
