In the eyes of many people, depression is a terrifying mental illness, as fearsome as a demon. The outside world avoids people with depression as much as possible, family members feel heavily burdened and utterly exhausted, and many people with depression themselves fall into deep self-abasement and despair, with severe cases even ending in suicide.

What does depression actually feel like?

At first, your world contains only yourself, and you can only feel yourself. In other words: because you cannot perceive the outside world, you can feel yourself even more than before. Whether it is your gaze or your thoughts, they will revolve around only yourself at every moment.

Excessive attention to yourself makes all your flaws infinitely magnified in your eyes. For example: a single pimple seems as serious as a tumor, a little bit of excess weight makes you think you are hopelessly ugly, and there seem to be constant mocking and strange looks lingering around you.

Whether you encounter something sad or something heartbreaking, you cannot even cry. You cannot choose a way to release the enormous suppression inside your body, and this suppression fills your entire being. But perhaps because it is too full, when your whole self becomes tears themselves, the tears can no longer flow.

Depression is exactly this kind of illness that makes you lose your perceptiveness, become numb and insensitive, and see only yourself.

The potential that depression brought out in me:

1. Stronger psychological endurance

2. Willpower brought out

3. Greater insight into human nature

4. A clearer view of what is important and what is not

5. A clearer understanding of what you should do at what time and what you should not do at what time

6. Becoming a person with an incomparably strong inner self

I hope all people with depression will not give up on themselves. In fact, you are the ones worthy of admiration. No one will look down on you or see you with strange eyes. You must believe that the world is not as unbearable as you think. There are always some people who love you and quietly encourage you~
