Begonias have high ornamental value. If you want the flowers to bloom better, they need careful attention and you need to master the care techniques, so the flowers will bloom even more brilliantly. Below we introduce the care methods!

How to grow begonias:

(1). Soil selection

Begonias like loose, fertile humus soil. This kind of soil medium has good drainage and air permeability, allowing the plant to grow healthily and maintaining a good environment for root growth.

(2). Fertilization requirements

Begonias need nutrients as they grow, and their fertilizer demand is high during the growing season. They need to be fertilized once every 20~30 days, but remember not to apply concentrated fertilizer, as it will cause fertilizer burn, affect growth, and may even kill the plant.

(3). Watering management

Begonias like a warm and humid environment. Water to keep the soil moist, but not overly moist. You can often spray water mist on the leaves and around the flower pot to maintain high air humidity, which is good for plant growth. If there is standing water, it will cause the plant's roots to rot.

(4). Light requirements

Begonias are not tolerant of direct strong light. For home care, place them in a spot with scattered sunlight. When the sunlight is strong in summer, move them promptly indoors to a semi-shaded place to grow, avoiding exposure that scorches the plant's leaves.

(5). Regular pruning

When begonia seedlings are 6cm tall, they need to be pinched back, which can promote branching and improve their ornamental value. One and a half months before flowering, light pruning is needed to make the branches bloom earlier. After flowering, prune off the spent flowers, which can encourage the lower branches to sprout.
