Summer is almost over, the weather is getting cooler day by day, and it is once again the season when people start buying flowers. Recently, readers have often asked Chengcheng: how do you choose a Christmas cactus?

Today Chengcheng will tell everyone: what should you pay attention to when buying a Christmas cactus?

First of all, when we are choosing a Christmas cactus, it is best not to buy rooted cuttings, because the root systems of Christmas cacti grown from cuttings are not very well developed, and most Christmas cacti grown from cuttings grow sprawling, so the plant shape does not look very attractive. Most importantly, these Christmas cacti grown from cuttings have a life cycle, and generally after two or three years they will die!

So when we are choosing a Christmas cactus, it is best to buy grafted Christmas cacti! These grafted Christmas cacti live longer, and as long as they are cared for well, they can bloom hundreds of flowers in a year!

Grafted Christmas cacti are divided into two types: one grafted onto Pereskia, and one grafted onto cactus! If you are a beginner, I suggest you choose one grafted onto Pereskia!

Secondly, when we are choosing, it is best to choose potted plants that have already acclimated to their pots. Some flower vendors often take Christmas cacti grown in the ground and directly pot them for sale. That way, after we buy them and bring them home, since they have not yet acclimated to their pots, after leaving the greenhouse they will find it very hard to adapt to the temperature and humidity at home. The leaves will quickly wilt and droop, and further along they will drop flower buds or even rot!

So when buying, you must observe carefully to see whether its roots and soil are tightly combined, whether the leaves are plump, and whether there are any individual rotting leaves!

Chengcheng especially reminds everyone: when buying a Christmas cactus, it is best to choose one with flower buds, to prevent the color from being wrong after you bring it home!
