At first, when cacti came into our view, the style was still like this: placing one in the office can protect against radiation, but in fact cacti cannot absorb radiation. Although they cannot protect against radiation, that still cannot stop them from becoming trendy plants. They match all kinds of styles perfectly, cool and understated, ins, Nordic, industrial style, and your home is always incomplete without them. Today we will talk about how cacti should be cared for.

I. Choosing a pot

The flower pot should not be large; it only needs to be a little bigger than the plant. For household potted cacti, the ideal pot is a ceramic pot. This type of pot is exquisite and elegant, comes in diverse styles, and has relatively good water permeability at a moderate price.

II. Choosing potting soil

Cacti have strong adaptability and do not have high requirements for soil. Loess and red soil can both be used for planting, and sandy soil is even more suitable for cactus growth because the roots of cactus plants are very sensitive to lack of oxygen. If the potting soil has poor aeration, the oxygen supply in the soil will be insufficient, causing root rot. A layer of soil can be spread under the sand to maintain water absorption and storage, so there is no need to water every day.

III. Light

A sunny environment is suitable for cactus growth. The suitable temperature for cactus growth is 20-30°C, with a maximum not exceeding 35°C and a minimum not lower than 5°C. Direct scorching sun exposure should be avoided to prevent slowing the growth rate of the cactus. The placement location also matters; it needs to be placed in a well-ventilated spot.

IV. Watering

Cacti grow in desert areas, are drought-tolerant, and have good water absorption capacity. During care, everyone needs to avoid water accumulation. Too much watering will cause root rot and lead to death. Too little watering can also cause premature aging.

V. Repotting and propagation

In spring and autumn, repotting and changing the soil can be done once. Watering should be stopped 3-5 days beforehand.

When growing leaf-type, fan-type, pad-shaped, and columnar cacti at home, cutting propagation can be used in spring, summer, and autumn, with an extremely high survival rate. Generally, cuttings can take root in 20 days.
