Should you water orchids in the morning or at night? The difference is truly significant

Orchids are elegant and fragrant, a rare kind of flower that elevates the character of a home environment. Orchids are difficult to grow, but in fact, as long as you master the steps of potting medium, watering, nutrients, humidity and light, they are actually not that hard.
First we need to choose a relatively loose, breathable, well-draining potting medium; next we need to get the amount of water right and the timing of watering right, learn to judge how dry or wet the orchid's potting medium is, and at the same time, when watering orchids, we also need to find the right moment.
We all say that when watering flowers in summer, it is best to choose early morning or late afternoon, because at these times the climate is relatively cool, water evaporates more slowly, and orchids can absorb it more easily. But when watering at night, orchids may not necessarily cope well with it, and a moment's carelessness can lead to poor absorption. If the doors and windows are also closed at night, ventilation is poor, and orchids will also get root rot and yellow leaves.
Moreover, at night there is no light, the orchid's metabolic function is weak, and its ability to absorb water is also relatively weak. If ventilation is poor, the water will not be expelled either, causing problems such as root rot or yellow leaves in orchids.
Does watering orchids really require picking an auspicious time?
In summer, it is generally recommended to water orchids in the early morning, which is more suitable. Just as the sun rises, the temperature is not high, and by the time the scorching sun is overhead, the plant has already drunk its fill of water and can properly withstand the high-temperature baking. Moreover, the water just absorbed can quickly be converted into nutrients, ensuring the nutrient supply. If you do not water in the early morning, the orchid is in a state of water deficiency, and when the strong sun shines, the leaves are prone to scorching.
To care for orchids, besides watering well, you also need to mix the medium well
Watering is to ensure that orchids can absorb enough water. If the potting medium is not breathable, the orchid roots still cannot absorb water, so it is more suitable to choose a medium that is relatively loose, breathable and also well-draining, such as bark, ceramic pellets, leaf mold, Kanuma soil, peat soil and so on, all of which are very good orchid potting media. Pay attention to the ratio: generally 1 part leaf mold and about 3-4 parts of the other materials.
No matter when you water orchids, and no matter what potting medium you use for orchids, do not forget to supplement nutrients for orchids. While watering, you can drip in orchid-specific liquid organic fertilizer, used about once a week, which can promote orchid rooting, keep the plant strong and not lodging, and make the seedlings grow stronger and stronger.
