Because Xiao L suffered domestic violence from a very young age, she was timid and fearful of everything she encountered. Because she was frequently beaten by family members, she was badly frightened. From then on, no matter what difficult thing she faced, Xiao L would experience symptoms such as chest tightness, nervousness and difficulty breathing. Being hurt like this again and again made Xiao L suffer terribly.

Below are some of Xiao L's self-help experiences with "depression", which she hopes will help friends who are struggling with depression:

Do not sleep too many hours each day

In general, the brains of people with depression are active every waking moment; they are always imagining all sorts of things. Even when resting or sleeping, they produce a series of imaginary scenes. If we dream constantly while asleep, our nerves stay tense. Many times we may also wake up in the middle of the night, and the next morning we may have headaches, so we should try our best to control our sleep time.

Keep a relaxed and cheerful mindset

If people with depression want to help themselves, they must first keep a relaxed and cheerful mindset at all times. They need to let their nervous system relax and not stay tense for long periods. We can find some things we are relatively interested in and do them to shift our attention; this greatly reduces our psychological burden and is also a way to maintain a cheerful mindset.

Do not deliberately try to control the depression

People with depression are already in darkness and fear. When depression appears, the more we try to control it, the more we feel we cannot control it, and the result backfires. Think about it from another angle: if we are depressed, we can treat it with a calm mindset and relax as much as possible, letting our nervous system relax along with us, and then there will not be so much mental oppression.

Learn to accept reality and accept yourself

We are what we are in reality, and there is no need to think deeply about exactly what we are. Do not blame yourself; do not complain about yourself; do not resent yourself; and even more, do not give up on yourself. Some people with depression also place their emotions on external factors, which is actually wrong; we also must not complain about society or complain about family.

If a person with depression does not learn to accept themselves and find their way out, the condition is very likely to become more and more serious, and some people with depression may even develop suicidal tendencies.

When you face grievances, sadness or distress, you must let yourself cry

People with depression put all the pressure from life, family and other sources on themselves, and every day they replay and project it over and over in their minds.

If you feel wronged, sad or distressed, you must not forcibly suppress this emotion in your heart. We can absolutely cry out loud and give our spirit a good release. This also lets the nervous system relax from time to time. In addition, if we cry ourselves tired, we can also sleep better at night!

I hope Xiao L's experiences will help friends who are struggling with depression, and I wish everyone a speedy recovery~
