How to Plant

Grape hyacinth bulbs have strong propagation ability. It's best to plant them in soil with plenty of nutrients. Plant them after October, bury them with just the tip showing, then water thoroughly and place them indoors in a ventilated spot with indirect light.

Once the sprouts emerge 1-2 cm, you can move them to a windowsill for sunlight. No need to worry about watering - once every 3-4 days is enough. Flower buds will appear in about 10 days.

The first blooms look a bit shy. Don't be fooled by how thin and small they seem now - the flowering period lasts 2-3 months, and they'll quickly grow and burst out.
How to Make Them Burst Out of the Pot
1. Space each bulb 5-8 cm apart
Since grape hyacinths are so productive, you must leave enough growing space. Don't plant them too densely - staggering them makes them grow faster.
2. Give them plenty of sunlight
Since we plant them in autumn and winter, they can enjoy as much sun as they like. With enough sunlight, grape hyacinths keep producing green leaves, and their blooms are round and plump~ No need to worry about watering - just water thoroughly once the soil dries out.
3. Just add some Miracle-Gro
Imported bulbs have guaranteed quality, and the bulbs themselves contain enough nutrients for their needs. If you want to speed up growth and make them burst out of the pot, you can add some Miracle-Gro nutrient solution - it's also available in Huahua's selected store~

Storing Bulbs After Blooming

Wait until March-April of the following year when the grape hyacinths finish blooming. First, stop watering until the potting soil is completely dry, then cut off the leaves and flower stems.

Dig out the bulbs, trim the roots to an even length, leaving 3 cm. Place them in a cool spot to dry. The picture below shows 4 bulbs that multiplied into over a dozen bulbs.

Finally, store the dried bulbs in stockings or mesh bags. Be sure to keep them in a dry place, and plant them again in autumn and winter!
