She built a garden on a barren mountain, enjoying flowers, growing vegetables, and wandering through the hills, a life that even immortals would envy

Modern people's demands for their living environment are no longer simply about being clean, tidy, and well-landscaped. Many people long for a courtyard or mountain life far from the worldly grind, free from contention. Today, Huahua will introduce a flower-loving friend who lives in the mountains - Bore Bolin!
Bolin had always wanted to build her dream "cottage" in the mountains, a place where she could wake to birdsong and rest with the sunset, enjoy flowers, grow vegetables, drink wine, and sip tea. She named it "Dream Cottage"!
In 2013, while traveling with her husband at Nanshan Lake, by a lucky coincidence, she saw a small villa on the mountain - this was the future "Dream Cottage." Because the original owner urgently needed funds, it was sold to Bolin and her husband at a low price.
What was delightful was that this three-story villa facing the lake came with a large garden of over 1,000 sq m. She finally had the chance to create the pastoral life she had dreamed of!
Dream Cottage was built against the mountain, and the whole thing is a half-hillside. The slope was covered in a barren garden full of weeds. The difficulty of transforming it can well be imagined!
Before the garden renovation:
After the garden renovation:
The entire building is divided into six levels of functional zones: the first level is the large garden, the second level is the house and small garden, the third level is the vegetable garden, the fourth level is the long corridor, the fifth level is the orchard, and the sixth level is the pavilion and sunroom. Layer upon layer, it is like an estate. Today, Huahua will focus on introducing the renovation of the garden, vegetable garden, and orchard!
Garden renovation one: Creating a beautiful entrance and an eastern rest area
Following the mountain path upward to the entrance of the garden, there is an arched iron gate at the entrance. The construction of the courtyard gate is very important. Bolin added an arched iron flower trellis on the gate post to prepare for roses and monthly roses to climb in the future~
On the right side of the courtyard gate, taking advantage of the slope, two three-dimensional fish ponds were built on the upper and lower levels with a strong sense of layering~
This fish pond is the soul and eyes of the entire garden. With water, the garden becomes lively and animated.
Bolin planted water lilies, butterfly bush, water sedge, and other flowers and plants in the fish pond, while around the pond she planted cosmos, sweet flag, and iris~
The east side of the garden was a patch of wild grass and needed to be transformed into a small garden. Before and after comparison:
First, stairs were built and small paths were paved with bluestone slabs, then shrubs and flowers were transplanted. Following the path to the end, there is a corner, and Bolin turned this place into a rest area:
On the small circular raised platform, a wooden swing was set up, with an arched flower gate behind it planted with climbing monthly roses; the ground is paved with tiles in a rain flower stone pattern, and several black wrought-iron tables and chairs are placed there. In leisure time, drinking tea and chatting are simply wonderful!
This is the small garden on the east side!
Garden renovation two: Building a circular walkway and planting all kinds of flowers and plants
Because the garden is a large sloping hillside, the first thing was to adapt to local conditions and build a circular walkway, which not only connects all the areas but also creates the effect of a winding path leading to secluded beauty and changing scenery with every step!
The hillside vegetation was bare and overgrown with weeds. While building the paths, it was also necessary to remove weeds and plant flowers and trees~
On the outer edge of the slope, woody plants such as cherry trees and red maples were planted. Around the paths, low shrubs were planted, and a handful of herbaceous flower seeds was scattered beneath the shrubs. During this process, constant adjustment and enrichment were also needed!
In this way, with large trees, shrubs, and flowers and plants, the plants in the garden gradually gained a sense of layering.
The stone-step path paved with bluestone slabs extends all the way to the stairs at the entrance of the second-level house~
At this point, the prototype of the entire garden was in place. What remained was planting flowers and plants!
Roses and monthly roses covering the walls:
Large patches of tulips~
Romantic wisteria flowers
Delicate and beautiful Oriental lilies
Gorgeous hydrangeas of all colors
Wood sorrel covering the ground
Renovating the vegetable garden and orchard, eating the taste of nature
Bolin built the vegetable garden and orchard on the upper levels. Cucumbers, green beans, amaranth... all kinds of vegetables grew lush and green, with very delightful growth~
A patch of corn was planted around the outer edge of the vegetable garden, and several sunflowers were planted at the base of the wall~
The melons, fruits, and vegetables harvested from the vegetable garden
Fresh cucumbers - when there were too many to finish, they were pickled into sauce cucumbers, which look especially appetizing with rice!
Using sword beans and eggs to make braised noodles is also a delicious dish~
Eggs and purslane can be made into delicious vegetable pancakes~
Between the vegetable garden and the orchard is a long grape trellis corridor!
The corridor is hung with gourds, loofah, and bitter melon, as well as intertwined pumpkin vines~
Along the edge of the corridor, Chinese trumpet creeper and wisteria flowers were planted~
Passing through the corridor and entering the orchard, all kinds of fruits are planted inside, including peach, plum, apricot, jujube, persimmon, loquat, blueberry, and more~
Every summer and autumn, there is always a full harvest of fruit to give to relatives and friends!
The construction of the entire garden was completed by Bolin and her husband with their own hands. Relying on a passion for nature, they continuously overcame all kinds of obstacles, read books and magazines, studied online, secretly learned skills from veteran flower growers... and finally achieved today's results.
Busy from early morning to late night every day, although the body was tired, the heart was full of excitement and joy!
Pastoral life, leisurely and peaceful
The pastoral scenery is intoxicating, but what people envy most is still that carefree pastoral life: in the early morning, waking to birdsong and breathing in a mouthful of fresh mountain air, crisp and refreshing!
In the mist, picking a few fresh melons, fruits, and vegetables to make a delicious breakfast~
Casually gathering a bouquet of hydrangeas and sunflowers from the garden to make a beautiful flower arrangement~
In the afternoon, brewing a cup of coffee and enjoying the peace of the mountains~
In the evening, inviting a few friends to gather and chat freely, enchanted by good food, good wine, and beautiful scenery~
In leisure time, sitting alone at the top of the mountain, watching the clouds roll and unroll~
On holidays, going on self-driving trips to Sichuan, Tibet, and Yunnan, seeing different mountains and rivers and beautiful scenery~
Seeing this, are flower lovers also intoxicated?
Bore Bolin can be said to be a winner in life
Everyone wants to have this kind of pastoral life!
Of course, some people will say, Huahua, you are dreaming again
Life is already hard enough, but dreams should still be dreamed
What if one day they come true?
