Does pothos need sunlight? Grow it this way for fast growth

Pothos can survive no matter where you casually place it at home, so some plant lovers stop caring whether pothos actually needs sunlight. This is because they mistake pothos's shade tolerance for a preference for shade, so they keep pothos in relatively shady spots year-round.
Some plant lovers ask: does pothos like sunlight? Is it afraid of sunlight? The answer is that pothos is a shade-tolerant plant and does not have great demands for sunlight! But excessive exposure to strong sun will kill it!
1. It must not be exposed to strong sun
First, pothos must not be exposed to strong sun, because it grows in forests shaded by towering trees, so its heliotropism is not strong and it cannot be exposed to direct strong sunlight, otherwise new leaves will become smaller, the leaf color will be dull, and the leaf edges are easily scorched. So it is not suitable for growing on balconies with strong light.
2. Appropriate light
Although pothos is shade-tolerant, it still needs moderate exposure to sunlight for photosynthesis. If pothos is kept in a shady place without light for a long time, its leaves will gradually become smaller, and the green color of the leaves will become rather dull, losing that emerald green look, while in a place with ample sunlight it will grow very well.
3. Tips for growing pothos
1. Suitable temperature
If you want pothos leaves to grow bigger and bigger and for it to also grow as a climbing vine, you need to maintain a temperature above 20°C, keep a well-ventilated environment with plenty of diffused light, and most importantly, maintain a certain level of environmental humidity, kept at around 60%; when the air is dry, you need to mist appropriately to increase humidity.
2. Light fertilizer applied frequently
For pothos to grow thick, plump leaves, it needs appropriate fertilizer; do not use phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, but rather a foliar fertilizer with a relatively high nitrogen content, used after dilution, maintaining a frequency of 1-2 times per month during growth. You can occasionally use beer diluted with water to wipe the pothos leaves, which can also promote the healthy growth of potted pothos.
3. Choice of potting soil
The flower pot for planting pothos must drain well, and the potting soil should be kept loose, fertile and well-draining, avoiding water accumulation in the potting soil. You can use wood shavings mixed with garden soil and leaf mold, plus an appropriate amount of river sand, to ensure good drainage. After that, during care, pay attention to whether the potting soil has become compacted; if the soil is compacted, it is best to replace it promptly. If it is not convenient to repot, first loosen the soil, and only water after loosening the soil.
