More and more people love growing flowers, and of course more and more foreign flowers are being introduced into homes in China. Take the aloe we are talking about today; in fact, there are many aloe varieties in China, such as Chinese aloe, Buyecheng, snowflake aloe, tree aloe and so on, all widely grown by gardening fans. Aloe is not only beautiful in plant form and can serve as an ornamental flower; its leaves are also rich in aloe gel, which can play a role in beauty and skincare. This is also one reason aloe is so popular. Chinese aloe, for example, is an edible aloe with the effects of clearing heat, reducing toxins and lowering internal heat.

And today Shitou wants to share with everyone this spiral aloe, also known as the aloe queen. It has such a noble name entirely for a reason! This aloe is native to the Kingdom of Lesotho in eastern Africa. It is very rare in domestic nurseries, and because the aloe queen rarely blooms, its propagation method is generally to promote new shoots by artificial damage. Even so, the number remains very small, so it is very rare in China.

Basically, the unit price of a pot of aloe queen is above 10,000, and some are even higher. This makes many gardening fans think of the situation at the end of the last century, when sky-high-priced clivia appeared in China. Some people also say the aloe queen is a kind of hype. Is it actually hype? First we need to understand the aloe queen:

The aloe queen is a medium-to-large aloe with very beautiful flowers and leaves, and is the rarest high-mountain aloe in the world. This aloe has a characteristic: it is cold-resistant, can grow in snow in winter, and can also withstand 40-degree high temperatures in summer, so its vitality is very tenacious. It is said that a single aloe queen plant can live up to 50 years, the longest lifespan among all aloe varieties in the Liliaceae family.

But it also has another characteristic: the aloe queen is a single-plant aloe, and it rarely produces side shoots, meaning it is very difficult to propagate by division; in addition, the aloe queen rarely blooms, sometimes not blooming for even several years, and even when it blooms, the success rate of pollination is very low, so there are very few viable seeds. Once in Europe, a single aloe queen seed sold for as much as 10 euros.

This is also the reason the price of the aloe queen has remained high, and it has now become an endangered plant worldwide. The aloe queen grows slowly in the seedling stage and needs 2 to 3 years of growth before gradually becoming an adult plant. After becoming an adult plant, it grows relatively faster. An adult aloe queen can reach half a meter in diameter and is a medium-to-large aloe. Therefore, under normal circumstances, the unit price of a pot is at least above 10,000 yuan.

The name spiral aloe comes from an English translation; a single plant can grow about 90 leaves, and each leaf is arranged in a spiral. There are two forms, left spiral and right spiral, and no matter which form, the appearance is very beautiful.

It is precisely the reasons above that keep the price of spiral aloe high, and more and more people like it. In China it is generally propagated by seed. But gardening fans who understand it know that many of the seeds bought are fake seeds, and no spiral aloe can be grown from them at all. So for gardening fans who like spiral aloe, everyone is advised to be very careful when buying, so as not to spend a high price and buy fake seeds.

Of course some people have different opinions: they think a pot of aloe is simply not worth a price of over ten thousand! What do you think?

The people who grow this kind of aloe are all "rich people"; one pot costs "over ten thousand"; some say: hype!
