Many people love growing money trees, and they are actually quite easy to care for. But some growers find their money trees keep developing yellow leaves and root rot. So how exactly should you grow one to keep the leaves green and glossy?

1. Pay attention to environment and light:

Money trees love a hot, humid environment, and they also enjoy sunlight and partial shade. They should not be kept in a shaded spot for long periods. Indoors, place them in a bright location when caring for them. Also, when placed indoors, because the leaves are phototropic, the money tree will grow crooked! Position it so the leaf surface faces the sunlight. In addition, about every 3-5 days, spray the leaves once with a spray bottle. This not only creates a humid environment and helps the money tree grow better, but also washes the leaves, keeping the money tree green and glossy!

2. Pay attention to fertilizing:

Money trees are flowering plants that love fertilizer, and their fertilizer requirements are greater than those of common other flowering plants. When repotting each year, the proportion of fertilized soil can make up 1/3, or even more. The sources of fertilized soil are wide-ranging: you can collect leaf mold from the fallen leaves of broadleaf trees, add a little garden soil and mixed bone meal and soybean cake residue to prepare it. This fertilized soil is highly effective, convenient and easy to obtain, but be careful to let it fully decompose, so as not to "burn" the leaves yellow. In addition, during the money tree's growing season (May to September), apply a decomposed liquid fertilizer or a mixed flower-growing fertilizer once every 15 days to promote deep roots and lush foliage.

3. Pay attention to watering: (important)

Many money trees develop yellow leaves, and half of the cases are caused by overwatering. Because the potting soil stays too wet for a long time, it causes a lack of oxygen in the soil, making some fibrous roots rot, hindering normal respiration and the absorption of water and nutrients, which causes the leaves to turn yellow and drop. But too little water also fails to meet its water needs, causing the money tree's growth to stop. So when watering, you cannot trust a fixed schedule of how often to water. The basic principle is to water more in the hot summer season and less in winter; water more for large and medium-sized plants in vigorous growth, and water less for small newly potted plants. Generally, watering according to whether the potting soil is dry or wet will not go wrong. In addition, in summer, spray the money tree's leaves several times a day with a spray bottle to keep the leaves oily green and glossy.

4. Pest and disease control:

If you find pests or diseases on a money tree, be sure to deal with them promptly. Generally, you can use medicines such as Dinghong, Wanlihong, Miteclear, etc. After diluting them by a certain multiple according to the instructions, spray the leaf surface once a week, and 2-3 consecutive times is basically enough to kill them all off.
