Succulents are really hard to care for in summer - they either turn to mush or get black rot, and even when they finally go dormant they don't stay peaceful, constantly getting covered in bugs, and the pesticides you buy don't even work... --Alcohol, baijiu--

Treats: mealybugs

Household medical alcohol, at a concentration of about 20-30%, can be used directly by dipping a brush or cotton swab in it and wiping the succulent leaves, both front and back! If you don't have alcohol, you can use baijiu instead, diluted with water (1:2), wiping once every half month is enough, safe and effective~

Love really is such a strange thing, when you're single

--Rice vinegar--

Treats: mealybugs

If your succulents have too many bugs, you can use the rice vinegar method, very fast, just once and it's done! Rice vinegar:water = 1:2, put it in a small spray bottle and spray it on the succulents. 10-20 seconds after spraying, you must rinse the vinegar off with clean water, otherwise the leaves will be burned by the vinegar.

If you don't know how to rinse, you can lay the succulent pot on its side and spray the succulent with clean water until the smell of rice vinegar is gone. Once you're done, the bugs will be gone, and since succulents like acidity, giving them a bit of vinegar can even make their colors more vivid!

--Beer--

Treats: snails

Some plant lovers may think snails are cute, but they not only chew on succulents, the slime they leave behind is also harmful to succulents. When you come across snails, hurry and bring out the flat leftover beer at home, beer:water = 1:2, pour the mixed solution into the pot, and you can drive the snails away~

--Potassium permanganate--

Treats: bugs in the soil

Some plant lovers report that bugs have appeared in their succulent soil, whether small centipedes or small white worms, all because there are bacteria and eggs in the soil. At this point you can use potassium permanganate diluted with water = 1:100, pour it into the soil, and the bugs will be killed within half a day.

--Laundry detergent--

Treats: fungus gnats

What to do when there are lots of fungus gnats near your succulents? Besides ventilation, you can also place a basin of laundry detergent water in the middle of the pots, and quite a few flying insects will drown in no time. Many plant lovers want to try watering with laundry detergent water, but Huahua thinks succulents are too fragile, so it's better not to take the risk~

--Spread sand on the pot surface--

Treats: insect eggs

Some bugs like to lay eggs on the soil surface. We can spread a layer of sand on the pot surface, preferably sterilized coarse sand, which is more breathable and can also prevent mosquitoes and insects from laying eggs.

--Garlic, pepper powder--

Treats: bird prevention

Succulents are birds' favorite, and if grown outdoors, one careless moment and they'll be pecked by birds. We can sprinkle some minced garlic or pepper powder in the gaps of the pot, which is even more effective than sticking bamboo skewers or hanging colored ribbons. Birds can't stand the smell as soon as they get a whiff!

--Cigarette butt water--

Treats: ants

There are lots of ants in summer too, and if you don't get rid of one, it quickly becomes a whole nest. It's best if there's a smoker at home. You can collect 5 or 6 cigarette butts, soak them in a cup of water, take the butts out the next day, pour the water into the flower pot, and you can wipe out the ants.

--Mosquito coils--

Treats: mosquitoes, fungus gnats, mealybugs

Put the succulents in a fairly enclosed space, light a mosquito coil, and in about 1-2 hours it will fumigate mosquitoes, fungus gnats and mealybugs to death. Some are only stunned, so be sure to take the succulents out quickly and clean them up again.

If it rains continuously, the succulent pots being damp makes it easy for insect eggs to appear. You can sprinkle a pinch of mosquito coil ash on the potting soil, not too much, just a thin layer.
