Put this at the bottom of the pot in autumn: grow flowers for 30 years with thick roots, green leaves and lots of blooms

Why do the master gardeners always have such strong roots on every plant they grow, and never get root rot? Besides being more careful with daily care, it also comes down to the little things these masters put at the bottom of the pot. These little things not only promote root respiration, making roots as thick as a finger, but also prevent root rot, letting flowers live for 30 years!

Put a bit of wet tissue at the bottom of the pot: grow flowers for 10 years without root rot!

After wet wipes are used, collect them, give them a simple treatment, and lay them at the bottom of the pot. They are very handy and eco-friendly.

1. Do not throw away the wet wipes you use every day. Soak them in clean water to remove alcohol, fragrance and other added ingredients.

2. Lay the washed wet wipes on a windowsill or another sunny, well-ventilated spot and dry them.

3. Lay the dried wet wipes at the bottom of the pot, and you can grow flowers with them!

4. Wet wipes absorb water very well and are breathable. Laying them at the bottom of the pot can prevent root rot and also stop soil from leaking out when you water.

Put a bit of willow branch at the bottom of the pot: roots grow thick and strong, and the plant does not get sick!

Willow bark is rich in salicylic acid, which not only promotes flower root growth but also prevents root rot, making it especially suitable for lining the bottom of a pot.

1. Collect some dry willow branches that have fallen from the tree. Break the willow branches into several small pieces.

2. When repotting or potting up flowers, throw the broken willow branch pieces into the bottom of the pot, and you can grow flowers with them!

3. The salicylic acid in willow branches not only promotes root growth, but when laid at the bottom of the pot it also provides good drainage and can prevent root rot.

Put a bit of charcoal at the bottom of the pot: flowers do not get root rot and shoot up easily!

Charcoal not only makes summer barbecue smell delicious, but can also keep your flowers from ever getting root rot. It works even better than LECA!

1. Break the charcoal into small pieces, not too crushed and not too large; it is best to mix large and small pieces and long and short ones.

2. Put the broken charcoal into the bottom of the pot. First lay a layer of relatively small, crushed pieces at the very bottom, then lay a layer of mixed sizes, about 3-4 cm thick.

3. Charcoal laid at the bottom absorbs water, is breathable and resists rot, providing good looseness and aeration and preventing root rot. Charcoal can also be mixed into the soil for growing flowers and can prevent root rot too.

Put a bit of pine needles at the bottom of the pot: flower roots grow thick and pests stay away!

Everyone knows about using pine needle soil to grow flowers, but not everyone necessarily knows about using pine needles to line the bottom of a pot. This is experience accumulated by old flower growers over many years, so be sure to learn it!

1. Go under a pine tree, collect some dry pine needles that are brown or black, then cut them up with scissors.

2. Put the collected pine needles in the sun to bake, or steam them in a steamer, to disinfect and sterilise them.

3. Sprinkle the prepared pine needles at the bottom of the pot, about 3-5 cm thick.

4. After laying the pine needles, pour in nutrient soil and plant the flowers, and that is it!

5. Pine needles are not only loose and breathable, making flower roots strong and free of root rot, but also have pest-preventing and sterilising effects, so flowers get sick less often!
