Appreciation of Wu Laishun's new bonsai works

Original author | Yun Zhi Shui Zhong Huang Yucong

Mr. Wu Laishun is a native of Anqing, Anhui Province, and a bonsai master of Anhui Province. He began making bonsai at the age of twenty and has been at it for thirty-five years. His works are mainly pine and cypress species. In shaping his works he models them on the natural forms of ancient pines and ancient cypresses, refining them to the utmost. Some unremarkable raw materials, once handled by his hands, produce extraordinary ornamental effects. His works have won gold, silver and bronze awards many times in national large-scale exhibitions and provincial and municipal exhibitions. Now a selection of some of his recent new works is shared with fellow bonsai enthusiasts.
